[NO SPOILERS] #JourneysEnd + Introducing Joshua

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 10:07 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

We've just announced our plans for the month ahead - you can find out all about it on our blog here. In short, we'll be revisiting each episode of LiS2 with more insights that we hope both newcomers and existing players will find interesting. If you were waiting for the bundle to be out or want to refresh yourself on everything that has happened so far, this will be the perfect opportunity to jump into the game and be able to discuss it on an episode by episode basis.

We'll have specific play periods for each episode – several days where we'll focus on an episode at a time, with streams, conversation, and reveals. We're also working with individual communities to organise giveaways and other fun activities. Once the Episode 4 period is finished, we will of course be rolling into Episode 5 activities right up till launch. Maybe watch out for some tiny sneak peaks of that in the next coming days too…

Finally, I wanted to take this opportunity to also introduce Joshua (/u/JoshuaSquareEnix ), who joined the Life is Strange team earlier this year and has been helping me with the Life is Strange Community for some time now. Joshua's been here at Square Enix for a few years now and had already spent a significant amount of time with Life is Strange before joining our Community team. If you ever have any questions or feedback, please do feel free to tag him (just as you might have already and are still able to tag me) for an answer!

[S1] If I only had one wish...

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 10:02 AM PDT

If i had one wish, it would be to replay this game for the first time, just forget everything and play it again for the first time. The emotion that i got playing this game, man i cried like a bitch after finishing episode 5 (sacrificed Chloe). I fell in love with the characters and to this day, when i replay the game, i make the same decisions just because i can't let those characters go through all that (best example would be killing Chloe in the alternate reality). I've tried replaying the game to get me to feel the same way, but it just wasn't as intense.

Yeah, I just wanted to share my thoughts with yall. Am i the only one that feels this way?

    [no spoilers] Season 2

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:48 PM PDT

I've held off playing season 2 until episode 5 was closer. I'm loving all the little pop culture references.

Still on episode 1 but I already caught a reference to The Last of Us and David Lynch filming Twin Peaks nearby.

Nice to see a nod to Twin Peaks since Season one feels like a mash up of Twin Peaks and 80s teen movies.

What are good reasons you ship Grahamfield/Marren and why do you prefer it to Pricefield or why do you think Warren is better for Max?

    [ALL] David and the Prescotts

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 09:59 PM PDT

I have a suspicion about David's relationship with the Prescotts. Let me try to connect a couple of the dots here. I'm going to put the parts of this that are theory in brackets like these: []

    • At one point, we see David and Nathan talking on the quad outside of Blackwell Academy. When this happens, Max suspects some kind of foul play between David and Nathan.

    • Later, we find a letter from Sean Prescott to David thanking him for help with Nathan.

    • Elsewhere, in the garage, David has a map of a building on the Pan Estates property with markings that show where all of the surveillance cameras are. When Max looks at this, she surmises that David must be working for the Prescotts too.

    • David's Blackwell Academy ID has a date on it of 4/9/13, which is just a few days shy of Rachel's disappearance on 4/22/13.

    • David has been collecting information on the whereabouts of Nathan, Jefferson, Chloe, and a few other people over the course of the last few weeks as of LiS1.

    • A note that David leaves to Joyce in episode 4, if he is kicked out of the house expresses his depression over the fact that Chloe hates him.

    • in LiS 1.3, Max can read a police report written by Anderson Berry that says that David - who is noted as the Blackwell head of security - reported Rachel - who was 18 at the time - to the police for possession of drugs.

    • One of the photos in David's files is of Nathan attacking Warren on Monday afternoon.

Now, this is where my suspicions start. [It seems to me, that the date on David's school ID is somewhere near his date of hire for the Head of Security position. At some point, during that 13 day period - between David's hire, and Rachel's disappearance - David reports Rachel for having drugs, and she gets in trouble for it. Rachel - who, David knows is Chloe's best friend at the time - then proceeds to disappear. David takes this personally because he was supposed to be watching Rachel closely for reasons related to her criminal activity and also because of Rachel's relationship with Chloe. Chloe, in her own Chloe-ish way, probably blames a good portion of Rachel's disappearance on David, and David is trying to pull his family together. This causes conflict, because David never hears the end of this from Chloe, who criticizes him into oblivion. So, he devotes the next several months of his life to sussing out the wheres, whys, and whos behind Rachel's disappearance so that he can repair his relationship with his step-daughter.]

Now, we're pretty sure that David was on to Nathan for being related to Kate's situation, and probably was drawing some parallels to what happened with Rachel. After all, if Nathan helps make Kate disappear to take a video, it makes sense that the same could be true for Rachel. A lot of this, I think most of us already know, but what I hadn't been able to connect - before now - is why David would start working for the Prescotts if he suspected Nathan was the perpetrator. That never made sense to me.

I think I've figured it out. I've been watching a lot of Veronica Mars over the past few weekends - and incidentally, I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't seen it, I get tons of LiS vibes from it - and one thing that occurs occasionally in Veronica Mars, is one character will get close to someone else - not to actually be friendly with them, but for the purpose of acquiring information, [and this explains why David has that confidential map of Pan Estates.]

Here's my theory - [David is trying to pin down Nathan in some way - or failing that, he's trying to figure out who is responsible - and he has gone out of his way to get as much information as he can about Nathan's whereabouts and what is happening at Pan Estates. He works with the Prescotts (And that's probably what we're seeing when Max is getting on the bus to go to the diner with Chloe) and acts like he lets Nathan off the hook for something (presumably attacking Warren), so he can get Sean's blessing, so he can grab this map, or take a picture of it or get any kind of information that will help his investigation. Now, this map can help David with several things - especially if he thinks that Nathan has been there while doing things with Rachel. First, it tells David what kind of camera information he might be able to get if he sneaks in and downloads all of their files. Second, if he needs to sneak into Pan Estates to get more information, it will help him avoid detection.]

[no spoilers] I can't remember. Is LIS like Walking Dead connections to prior games?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 09:44 PM PDT

I don't want to buy Before the storm on a different system if they all need to talk to one another like The Walking Dead series. I can't remember if that's how they work, or if they're stand alone games where nothing you do affects the next titles. Thanks.

[NO SPOILERS] Am I the only one disappointed about LiS 2?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 10:13 PM PDT

I was hoping it was going to be a continuation of TAoCS but it's just a story about some runaway kids. The ending of TaoCS got me really excited too but I was just so let down.
