[S2] The directors cited photographer Mike Brodie for inspiration in Season 2. I went through his works and found some familiar faces.

[ALL] The storm was destined to happen on Thursday

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 07:39 AM PDT

I've been wondering why the Bay ending (Sacrifice Chloe) makes any sense at all. Max didn't use her rewind powers to save Chloe, apart from retrieving that hammer, and she had already rewound time three times (once to repair her Polaroid, twice to answer Jefferson's questions in class) before she took the butterfly photo, not saving Chloe does not erase every rewind. You could argue that it's a tally, that Chloe has to die for Arcadia to survive, but the storm is still happening in William's timeline, and also during Max's Dark Room session when Chloe is presently dead, so I'm pretty sure that's not it either. So what is it about that scene that saved the Bay when nothing else did?

I think the key to this question is Daniel Diaz. We don't see much of the mysticism in S2, but still the way Daniel gains his powers, and the parallels with Max are important. Daniel's power was triggered when Esteban was shot in front of him, and he had a massive, destructive outburst. Max's power was triggered when she saw Chloe die and she ended up wiping out an entire town.

But, if it was her "NO!" cry and the initial rewind, it still doesn't add up. That was also before the butterfly photo, the one Max had was taken after she figured out her power, and when she saved Chloe she didn't have an outburst either.

However, if we examine the timelines, there is another answer, and it begins with the first vision. We are led to believe that vision happened in Jefferson's class. I believe that's not the case at all, in fact, that's not even a vision. That was reality.

Max has two distinct powers, the rewind and the photo-jump. We see her gain a power on Monday, when she cries out as Chloe dies, and we just assume that power was the rewind. I think this is the key to that mystery. Her inherent power, her "gift" as others refer to it -- same way as Daniel's telekinesis -- is the photo-jump, not the rewind, and that's what activates when she sees Chloe die.

But wouldn't that mean she can's save Chloe there? I strongly believe that in the original timeline, she didn't. In the original timeline, Chloe died, Max tore apart reality, the week progressed pretty close to the Bay ending, but then the storm happened. Max was trying to make it to the lighthouse, for whatever reasons she had, but she was alone since Chloe was already dead. That's when the lighthouse fell on her, she died, and her own death activated the other power she didn't know she have.

This rewind was controlled by a different entity than Max, but one that's still part of her. We know of one such entity. Her subconscious, her spirit animal, Other Max, however you call it. We see it in the form of a ghost deer, part of Max as evidenced by its immunity to the rewind, and we get to talk to it in the nightmare. This is the part of Max that rewound time all the way back to Jefferson's class, into the moment where everything turned to shit, with one goal: stop the storm.

However, when Max proceeded with her life in the exact same way as before, going into that damn bathroom, taking the photo, witnessing Chloe's death again, the deer rewound again. The storm was triggered, no point in continuing that timeline. And this is where the deer made its greatest mistake, because in this moment Max became aware of this power she had and took control of it. This is why it was so fed up with Max by the time of the nightmare, it tried to warn her of her task but it could no longer force her.

There is one issue with this though: when Max saved Chloe in that bathroom, she didn't cry out, she didn't see Chloe die, she didn't tear reality apart in any way. She used a minor rewind to retrieve the hammer, but from the Bay ending we already know minor rewinds don't matter. So wouldn't that mean the storm didn't get triggered?

It did not, yet. This is why the storm happened a day later than when it was supposed to.

The answer to this is Kate. When seeing her jump, Max overextended her powers and tore into reality the same way she did when witnessing Chloe die. This is the real trigger of the storm. This is when things started to get seriously messed up, the eclipse came and the animals started dying, Samuel got scared, cairns started popping up, even the homeless lady felt it coming.

This is also how the Sacrifice Chloe ending makes any sense. Because of her death, Nathan gets busted, Jefferson is caught after his confession, Kate never jumps, and this way Max doesn't tear reality either for Chloe or Kate. It also explains why Nightmare Max is wearing the outfit from the second day, when Max saved Kate.

And this is why the storm happened on Thursday in the original timeline, just in time for the End of the World Party of the Vortex Club.

[S1] LiS 1: Is there different dialogue in the parking lot if you DON'T let Daniel sketch you, or..?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:15 AM PDT

As there is no easy way to check this; If you chose NOT to have Daniel sketch you, does the later reference Warren makes to it in the parking lot change to have different dialogue, or are those few lines simply skipped entirely?

[No Spoilers] All the scars Chapter 6

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 04:19 PM PDT

Alright, so I have 2 options and I'd like to get your feedback on which you'd prefer. I can release half of chapter 6 now and then the other half once I can get some time to finish, (could be almost 2 months), or wait and release it as a complete chapter. Which would you all prefer?

[NO SPOILERS] [ALL] Chris Eriksen is a very underrated character

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 10:22 AM PDT

[NO SPOILERS] [ALL] In my humble opinion Chris Eriksen has more mysteries around it like what happened to his mom, His dads past and the mother's connection to Blackwell academy. It just doesn't feel complete.
