    [ALL] The Max = Rachel theory + the wildfire theory

    There are so many hints throughout the game which suggest similiarities between Max and Rachel. This couldn't mean anything, it could be just a bunch of red herring but the theory itself is interesting.

    Some arguments:

    • Physical appearance - body shapes are the same ( Rachel's clothes fit perfectly on Max ), head shape, nose, the eye look? ( stare )

    • Events in 2008 - Max moves out of Arcadia Bay when William dies. When she's gone, Rachel befriends Chloe.
    • Birthdays - Rachel's birthday is on the 22nd of July, Max's birthday is on the 21st of September. That's a day difference.
    • Interests - Rachel aspires to be a model, Max aspires to be a photographer. Synergy. Also, Jefferson sees something ' special ' in Max an Rachel.
    • Max and Rachel are the opposite - Rachel has higher GPA, more extroverted and she doesn't care about the environment ( wildfire, plus the " I didn't expect the whole STUPID park to go woosh " ) whilst Max cares about global warming etc etc. Rachel is into drugs ( questionable ) while Max isn't.
    • In EP1 of BTS when Chloe asks her where the train is leaded, Rachel answers with " North? Maybe we'll end up in SEATTLE. ". Max is from Seattle.
    • " Doe see doe " poster on the wall in her bedroom in BTS.

    • Max's spirit animal is most likely the doe, same goes for Rachel.
    • There is a theory that ( according to the wiki ) the homeless woman from LIS1 is Chloe from the future ( again according to the wiki ), she even has a blue butterfly shirt. She also speaks how she's been there for thousands of years. Could this mean that Max is another Rachel but a more ' perfect ' version of her? ( calm, not involved in dangerous situations etc etc )
    • Now the powers. Max has time rewinding. In BTS Rachel was supposed to have some kind of power but the idea was scrapped after ep1. Supposedly, Max's rewind causes the hurricane in LIS1. I believe that the ghost doe we see in LIS1 actually died because of the wildfire Rachel caused in BTS and that way she harmed her spirit animal. Everyone's spirit animals are alive. Chloe is alive because ( let's assume ) her spirit animal is the raven - it is ' free ' ( Chloe is a rebel and doesn't care about anything ) while the doe is ' chained ' to the land. ( aka Rachel's parents forcing her to be perfect in every way ) I believe that's why the doe is a ghost in LIS1 and why only Max can see her - Rachel and Max both have powers which ' connect them ' and the doe too. After the hurricane, in the bae ending, iirc there is an alive doe in Arcadia Bay because Max is stronger than Rachel. Rachel can't handle stuff easily. I believe it connects Rachel to Max.
