[ALL] i just finished life is strange 2..

    Posted: 17 May 2021 05:59 AM PDT

disclaimer: this will probably be quite long, sorry about that. !!there will be major spoilers for both lis1 and 2!! and i also want to add right away that i mean no disrespect to anyone who liked the second game, but i would like to explain why i didn't like it. (and hopefully i'll be able to see some other perspectives in the comments?)

so, until recently lis2 had been laying around in my library since i bought it on sale a few months back. i bought it knowing i would eventually get around to playing it, even if it would take a while due to me being skeptical about it. the biggest reason for my skepticism was that the main reasons why i loved the first game (and bts) so much were the characters in it, and arcadia bay itself. i doubted that i would be able to enjoy a life is strange game without some of my favorite characters of all time, of course max and chloe being two of those. however, a couple of days ago i finally decided to look past my doubts and play sean and daniel's story, and i tried going in without any expectations in hopes of being able to see it as its own unit as opposed to it being "the next life is strange". if that makes sense?

anyway, i had a very hard time getting into it. i found myself waiting for the episode i was playing to be over so i could just move on to the next and hopefully enjoy that one more. i will say that there were times where i definitely liked the game and wanted to see what happens next, but for the most part i just wasn't feeling it. i couldn't form any deeper connections with any of the characters i was being introduced to, because they appeared for one episode each and then in the next we suddenly had a group of new ones. i liked daniel for the most part of the game even if he was a bit annoying, but he's only a kid so it's to be expected tbf. sean, on the other hand, was just plain annoying imo. bonding and forming deep connections with the characters as well as the town it's set in is part of what made lis1 so special, at least to me, so i feel like lis2 lacking those things made it seem so unlike life is strange to me. i guess how you view the characters all comes down to personal preference though, since i've seen some people saying the things i am saying about sean/daniel, but instead about chloe/max. my point is that not forming deeper connections with characters (especially side-characters) frankly made me completely indifferent to what happened to them. this in particular doesn't apply to sean and daniel, since i felt like they were the only ones we got time to bond with (for obvious reasons). i did care about them, but for the rest it was all just "meh". it didn't feel clear to me what happened to finn or cassidy or that whole gang, or the grandparents, or joey, or chris and charles, the list goes on; and whatever happened to them didn't really make a difference for me because i did not get enough time to get to know them. i did want to care about them, they were nice people, but beyond them being nice people i didn't know them. again, i hope this makes sense. it's just very different to how i felt in lis1, where i for instance cared deeply about kate and wanted the best for her, i just wanted to help her. even the "bad guys" like victoria and nathan had my sympathies, because we got to see different sides to them and see them beneath the surface, or behind their mask if you will.

now on to step-douche. i don't know if my brain has decided to alter my memory of david in lis1, maybe i need to re-visit it once again since it's been a while, but why is david a good guy now? why are they trying to make us like him? when he appeared my first thought was, "oh no is he gonna fuck things up for sean and daniel too?", but he was just.. there? reminiscing about his step-daughter and ex-wife, which just made no sense to me. i know he saved max and victoria, i appreciate him for that, but it doesn't mean i want to forgive him for being a complete asshole throughout the big majority of lis1. him and chloe now having the kind of relationship where he calls her sweetie on the phone felt out of character to me, i was genuinely confused. people change, yes, and admittedly i could see them burying the hatchet on okay terms after joyce died, but it felt weird that they'd be best buds.

i'm gonna stop here, because i doubt anyone wants or has the time to read any more of my rant but i would like to continue discussing the game in the comments if someone else wants to. i want to see if there's something i'm missing lol

[S1 E5] Ambience of the Dark Room during Episode 5!

    Posted: 17 May 2021 12:11 PM PDT

[S2] I just finished playing LiS 2– here's my opinion on it

    Posted: 17 May 2021 01:48 PM PDT

As the title says, I just finished playing the game about 23 minutes ago (as I'm writing these lines). It's the first time I've played it, and here's what I think about .

Firstly, I think the game itself is alright. We get connected to Sean and Daniel quite easily, especially if you have a younger sibling, like I do.

You kinda feel what they're feeling, when they're feeling it. Tension, nervoursness, sadness, happiness, a feeling of belonging when you settle somewhere and bad when you have to go, as well as wanting and hoping they'll do well and be safe as you (and/or Sean) makes a decision.

Also, you maybe lost a parent and/or the other ran away at some point in your life (although I really hope this didn't happen to anyone), which might help you connect with the Wolves bettee.

Weirdly, there isn't a feeling of connection to anyone or anything else really apart maybe Karen(?), which you can like and I'm guessing hate depending on how you play the game.

Also, everyone appears in less than a full episode (apart from the Diaz brothers, of course), apart from Cassidy and Finn.

Lyla, Broady, the petrol station guy, Anton and Joey all appear for about 15 minutes or less.

Although a lot of these characters are mentioned throughout the game after meeting them, it's a shame that they're sort of gone after getting separated from them.

Another thing that I feel many people can't really connect to is running away from the police across the country to cross the border. (That's what I hope, at least)

However, I do think that the story is well written to keep the game interesting and keep you on your toes, especially in the last episode.

The reason why I based this whole thing on how connected we (or at least I) feel or felt with the characters of LiS2 is that it was one of the biggest things of the first Life is Strange.

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that most, if not all of us felt really connected to the characters, the town, the story and just the game story in general, and I think that also applies to BTS.

However, I still think LiS2 is a good game, and altough I understand why people might not like it as much as the previous two games, I don't think it deserves all the hate it's getting.

With that being said, I want to leave you guys with a question:

Do you think the game would've gotten all the hate it's getting if it didn't have "Life is Strange" in the title?

PS: please feel free to discuss anything mentioned in this post

EDIT: one thing I definately prefer in LiS2 over LiS is the way the episodes begin. In LiS there is the "previously in Life is Strange" thing, whereas in LiS2, Sean recaps the story of the two wolves, which I thought was much more clever and a niver transition. That's just me though

[All] Who or What is giving these People these Powers ?

    Posted: 17 May 2021 04:50 AM PDT

In the Life is Strange Series each of the main characters receive Supernatural powers from an unknown source either they are Born,Cursed,Gifted or genetically engineered with these said powers are currently unknown

    • To Maxine Caufield she gained the Ability to rewind Time
    • To Daniel Diaz he gained the Ability of Telekinesis
    • To Alex Chen she gained the Ability to Feel Empathy over others

Things they have in common 1. They're powers were only revealed in a position of extreme emotional stress 2 They're all in their Youths not one was older than 30 when they received their powers 3. They were all oblivious to they're supernatural abilities and had no idea where they came from

I hope there are plenty of other people in they're Universe with the same predicaments which could become potential sequels to future Life is Strange games

[ALL] Question for last episode of Lis 1

    Posted: 16 May 2021 12:35 PM PDT

This might be confusing to understand because I am bad at explaining stuff but I'll try my best. So I am at the part of the last episode where max focused on the photo that she took with Warren in front of the vortex club party and she went back to that time. You can see that the space around is all red and burned-like. Why is it like that? Also what happened when max and Chloe walked passed it? The next scene is her waking up on the beach with Chloe and the tornado is there. But how come it just fast forwards her to that time ? How come she had to ask Chloe what happened after they left the party? Why doesn't she know what happened if she lived through it ?
