    [NO SPOILERS] It's one of those days

    When I'm feeling extra sad and all I can do is write poems and wait until it's time to go to sleep. Luckily, I also have the Before the Storm soundtrack playing, and it helps balance me out.

    I think the soundtrack is one of the things that played the biggest role in making BtS my favorite LiS game, especially Daughter's songs and melodies. Hearing certain songs just makes my mind immediately replay their scenes and go through the range of emotions this game has imprinted in me.

    Anyway, here's to a great soundtrack of a dear game, and here's a virtual hug to any and all of you who need it.

    [S1 E5] Lingering questions after playing the game for the second time

    SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

    After playing the game for the second time around, I had some questions about this particular episode that really confused me. Hopefully you guys can help me out, I'd really appreciate it!

    1) When Max goes into the past through the photos (in the dark room), she can't leave the bounds of that certain scene. But it isn't consistent. Sometimes she can focus on a photo and totally live out an entirely new alternate reality. So why is it that some photos are restricted with how much she can do, but other photos have no restrictions?

    2) The first time I played this game I remember seeing Victoria next to me in the dark room. Why is it that the second time around I didn't see her there? Did I choose a different option that led to her not being caught?

    3) this one confuses me the most. Hopefully I can explain well. When Max goes into the dark room at first, she realizes that she can look at her first selfie and go back in time. So she uses this photo and goes back to Mr. Jefferson's classroom. She texts David about him, he gets caught, she goes to the art show, etc. Seems that all is well. Until she finds out through Chloe that the storm was actually coming. Then she finds her photo that she submitted and goes back to that time. After she rips the photo she ends up in the dark room. But how is it that David shows up to save her? Didn't she go back in time to before she said anything to him? How is she still friends with Chloe, and how did Chloe know about her "vision"? Are we supposed to assume that everything happened exactly the same way as we saw during that week?

    4) When she goes back in time through Warrens photo, she tells Chloe "in a few minutes I won't remember any of this happened. We have to stay in your room and do nothing. Tell David everything that happened." Why wouldn't Max remember though? She remembers every other time she went back in time, so why is it different now? And how would Chloe remember what Max told her if they were in an alternate reality when they had that conversation?

    Hopefully I worded these well. Looking forward to hearing the explanations. Thanks!

    You know what I find interesting about this song? That it sounds more like a song Max would like, at least the first part. Like an indie folk song, something that wouldn't be out of place in the first game.

    When the rock instruments kick in, it sounds more like something Chloe would like, and therefore it sounds more like a song that'd fit in this game. Put together, this song sounds like something Max and Chloe could enjoy together.

    What's so unique about this is that Chloe and Rachel listen to it together. Rachel doesn't strike me as an indie folk girl. Punk rock maybe, but not indie folk, not at all. To me, this signifies the exact moment when Chloe starts to view Rachel as the "new" Max. A new best friend, possibly even lover. I may be reading too much into it, but I feel like it might be intentional.
