[S2 E5] Found a neat visual parallel in one of the ending cutscenes

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:36 PM PST

I watched the Blood Brothers ending today again and this one scene immediately reminded me of this concept art from Season 1. These shots look way too similar for it to be a coincidence, imo.

[ALL] So I REplayed Life is Strange for the first time since 2015

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 01:52 PM PST

Yeah so I beat the game a few weeks after the episode 5 came out back in 2015. Absolutely loved it, but I got over it pretty quickly. Yes, there were many scenes that made me cry and feel super compassionate towards the characters, but that's pretty normal for me. That's just who I am and how immersed I get into videogames and movies. The reason I got over it without much trouble was that my life at the time was... I guess the best word I can use here is bearable. I had serious problems but I was able to cope with them for the most part.

Fast forward to September 2019 and I was feeling awful, my coping mechanisms were giving in and to make matters worse I decided to play LiS: BTS for the first time. In my defense though while I knew it was gonna be a great game, I didn't think it would have such an impact on me. So I played it, needless to say it destroyed me. The timing could not have been any more cruel. For two months I've felt like absolute garbage, couldn't stop thinking about LiS and how low I have fallen. I had to quit this subreddit and take on a massive project to shift my focus onto something else, because it was killing me. But all this time I've been wanting to replay the original LiS so much, but I was too scared to do it. Finally after finishing my project on last Friday I felt like I was ready to do it and I also wanted to play it before LiS 2.

And I did... and dear God what a beautiful game. Even though I remembered most of the major events (like Kate's suicide attempt, Jefferson being the main villain, the dark room, how they found Rachel, and the final choice) it still managed to surprise me and cause way too many heart breaks haha. One thing I actually forgot was how Max went back in time to save William, and then in this alternate reality Chloe gets paralysed after a car accident. I honestly didn't remember this moment that well so it was super heartbreaking as well as satisfying to relive it! I absolute love this sequence. Seeing Chloe like that was immensely sad. What I loved so much about that situation was how much William and Joyce loved Chloe and how much they were doing for her. They appreciated every single day they spent with her. Truly touching. LiS excels at so many things: story, characters, suspense, nostalgia, soundtrack, voice acting, emotional impact. I know I'm about to say something generic, something you hear and see people say every day a thousand times, but Life is Strange is (easily) the best videogame I've ever played. Actually, scratch that. Life is Strange is the best entertainment medium I've experienced. No other videogame, movie or book (although I'm not much of a reader) has had such an impact on me or evoked such an emotional response. Nothing is even remotely close to it, I swear. We are all lucky to have experienced this undeniable masterpiece, guys. We're all blessed. I think LiS is that once in a lifetime experience and we might as well never experience anything like that ever again. Dontnod, I bow down deep to you. We don't deserve you guys...

Life is strange will always hold a very very special place in my heart, it will forever be my safe haven, a universe I can go back to when I feel awful. I'm actually planning to write an essay about LiS, now that I have both the original and BTS fresh in my mind, but it's gonna take a while though because I wanna think it through very thoroughly. I'm also gonna be picking up LiS 2 next week, can't wait to play it and discuss it with all of you! And last but not least, I'm glad to be back here and participate in all the awesome discussions on this sub! Much love guys <3

[No Spoilers] If LiS3 were to happen - what powers would you want the protagonist and/or deuteragonist to have?

[BtS] [S1] So does Rachel Amber have powers?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 02:50 AM PST

Replayed BtS over the past few days (along with the rest of the series) and I just wanted to ask something I don't see brought up here a lot (prolly cuz I'm like 3 years late but nvm that), does Rachel have fire, or at least wind powers? Cuz like there were a few hints in each episode that certainly alluded to it:

Ep1: When Rachel kicked the trash can over, resulting in a fire, she screams which is immediately followed by wind gushing into the bushfire. She screams for the second time and again wind comes in from her direction towards the fire.

Ep2: When at the Amber's place, the argument is happening, and everyone but Rachel is standing up, Rachel's face seems fixated and as rage is clearly boiling up inside her, the flames on the candles are bigger than they were before, like their symbolising her rage.

Ep3: When in the hospital there are firemen who comment Rachel's fire, saying how it was unlike any other, and that it extinguished itself which never happens.

I can see her having fire powers making sense, it symbolises her rage, which would coincide with the fire extinguishing by itself, as at that point in the story she wasn't engulfed in rage. Her having wind powers would also make sense, as this was said to be one of the biggest fires in Arcadia bay (so her wind caused it to travel so far, so quickly), and it would tie into the theory that she was the storm; her wind powers are at at an all high, she's angry and she wants Chloe dead to be with her, so she's the tornado.

I'm also not surprised if this was the case that her powers weren't the main focus of the season; it wouldn't make sense with the timeline for Chloe to know about any other powers, and this is about her relationship with Rachel. I like the subtlety they put into Rachel's power (again, if this was the case).

Anyway, I know this topic might have already been discussed multiple times, but I came here a few months ago and haven't recalled any posts on this, so seeing as I replayed the game just today, I figured I'd ask what you guys think of the matter.

[All] I am writing a video essay

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 07:49 AM PST

[All] I am writing a video essay

Comparing stories, the real life parallels, etc.

I have a few questions but I probably will have more in the future so let's call this part 1.

When talking about racial bias particularly towards Sean:

    1. How much of a noticeable accent did he have? Especially for the average American? I know the actor is Argentinian but he has a slight noticeable accent (outside of Standard American Dialect seen in games. Would the cop immediately notice? Some people are not good with recognizing dialects. Daniel doesn't have the same accent, partially due to I'm guessing lack of exposure to the Spanish language (I guess).

    2. The brothers especially Daniel appear to "pass" (racially) as white. Did it come off that way to anyone else?

    Thank you!

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:50 PM PST

    Hey people,

I really like the background music of the LiS 2 game, i.e. the game pause music. I haven't been able to find those soundtracks on Spotify tho, but would really like to create a playlist for zoning out / relaxing. Did anybody find them or knows similar music on the platform?
