    @Emmavieceli

lifeisstrange #comic readers: I know I've been asked a bit and can now safely say that yes, titan have confirmed officially that the fourth arc will be starting in October. Apolgies for the unexpected pause. Nobody's ideal choice. The pandemic has hit things badly.

[S1] Life is Strange finally broke me...

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 12:26 PM PDT

Never have I felt this emotional over fictional characters.

I originally played LIS in 2015. I was 12 and heard about it from my guitar teacher while we were discussing new games. The first episode had only been released at that point and my teacher kept raving on out how good it was. That night, I spend my £15 pocket money to buy the game. I proceeded to have a pretty boring night. Obviously, I didn't understand any of the nuances and I couldn't really connect to any of the characters. I was 12 and a COD kid so to go from action packed to sombre and slow made me lose interest pretty quick. It was only this month that I decided to sit down and play through Before the Storm and LIS over about 3 days.

Spending about 25 hours with a small cast of characters really changes how you view the game. You lose yourself in that world and begin to develop strong emotions towards each character. Your choices start to become less about what you think will be the best outcome and reflect more on how you would actually handle the situation irl. However, what I really want to talk about is the ending.

(Context) About a year ago my ex-girlfriend attempted to take her life. I knew she had been dealing with mental health issues for a while by then but I didn't know how bad it was until one night I woke up to crying. I remember walking to the bathroom to see her half conscious in the bathtub. I won't go into much detail but her parents weren't there so I had to call an ambulance. She recovered but moved up to the north of England and I slowly lost contact with her as I went to college. I used to have nightmares about suicide after that and its only after going to college that i've managed to move on

So back to LIS. It was 2 in the morning and I had been playing for about 8 hours that day. I got to the ending and decided to sacrifice Chloe. That's when it hit me. No game has ever better represented that feeling of losing or nearly losing someone you love. The perfect combination of music and imagery of a butterfly made me think back to that night. In short, I cried in the silence of night thinking back on me and my ex.

I know this probably isn't worded very well or sounds like a sob story. I just wanted to get something off my chest after playing such an amazing game.

[No Spoilers] My actual opinion of the Life is Strange community (I’m sorry btw)

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 11:36 AM PDT

So I posted a rant disguised as a discussion earlier on this subreddit, I deleted it like the dumbass I am, but you can still see it on r/LifeIsStrange2, basically I was complaining that DontNod built a biased community with the original Life is Strange game, which isn't true. Yes I'm not going to say that their aren't people who are biased, I'm talking about the #Bayoverbae or #Baeoverbae people, or people who spam DontNod's twitter asking for Max and Chloe back, but it's not everyone, not even close.

I also said that many people like the games for shallow reasons, which can be true, but not everybody, and certainly not the majority of people in the community are like that.

Basically I generalized the entire community.

Then removed the post in fear of people disagreeing with me.

    After calling them immature.

    Yeah, no I'm pretty stupid.

    I just want to apologize.

So basically I want to have a nice discussion, I don't have any friends that like to discuss these games irl, so It'd be nice to find some here, even if they disagree with me.

I finished LiS 1 and wanted way more. Anyone read the Fanfic, "all the scars you cannot see"? I'm on chapter 9 and wanted to see what people thought about it.

[S1] Anyone ever realized how similar LiS 1 is to the 2004 movie The Butterfly effect?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 04:09 AM PDT

It could all just be coincidental but there are quite a few similarities between the two: When Evan uses his power his nose bleeds just like Max's does when she uses her powers. They both go back in time after the death of someone they really cared about. A junkyard is a pivotal place in both. Both have an ending where someone is sacrificed to keep other peoples lives normal. In both cases the main character travels back to their childhood to change their future and in both cases a character becomes a paraplegic. There are probably a few I missed out on too but that's just what I could remember, let me know if you think it's pure coincidence or intentionally referenced.

[NO SPOILERS] Are there any other games similar to Life Is Strange that I should play?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 09:48 AM PDT

I absolutely loved all the Life Is Strange games and have recently also enjoyed the Last of Us series. I was just wondering if anyone new of any other games that are similarly story based/decision based that are as immersive as the games mentioned?

[S2 E1] Question about a scene in the first episode

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 08:06 AM PDT

EDIT: I've come to the conclusion I might have pressed the wrong button. Without spoiling, does your choice to sacrafice Arcadia Bay or not effect anything else in the game? I'm debating on whether or not I should start over to choose the correct option.

Is the town that Brody and Sean look at in episode one Arcadia Bay? If so, is it supposed to be destroyed? At the beginning of the game I chose no for "Did you sacrafice Arcadia Bay?" but Sean notes the town is empty and destroyed.

[ALL] Chloe isnt toxic? Warren is the best friend

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 02:53 AM PDT

(Spoilers! ) Sorry my grammar, im not a native english speaker.

I only played the 2 first episodes but I know how the game ends, I was impressed that Chloe is that toxic and not a good influence, examples:

    -Drugs, guns, alcohol.

-Is mad for Max "abandon her" (she was a child, did you spect to stay with you when their parents move far away from you?...)

    -money debt, dont pay tickets.

    -Inmadure behavior.

-If Max decide to answer the phone for a call from Kate, he gets angry (selfish, Kate has had a serious problem, you are not the center of the world, relax ...)

I can say more things but its clear that Chloe is the type of friend that you should move away or prepare to deal with problems. Warren its the opposite, maybe its too annoying but its not that negative for Max compared to Chloe.

Objectively, it's not Warren the best option as boyfriend? (apart from the orientation of Max)
