[ALL] A few things I found weird

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 11:25 AM PDT

I just finished Before the storm chapter 1 and there are 2 things I found weird.

If Rachel has wind powers how did Nathan manage to kill her ? Why didn't she like use her wind powers to rip his head off ?

Also, was Rachel cheating on Chloe with Frank or cheating on Frank with Chloe or something like that ? Playing LIS I always thought Chloe and Rachel were just friends with some unrequited love going on maybe but from the one chapter I played, it seems like Rachel is actively into Chloe. What is up with that ? That means that when Chloe found the photos in the trailer, she wasn't just kinda grossed out like I initially thought but actually hurt because that means Rachel was cheating on her ! Also that makes Pricefield so much more complicated to, does Chloe just see Max as a replacement Rachel ? Or was Rachel always a replacement Max for her ?

[NO SPOILERS]Twitch Plays/Chooses Life is Strange

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 10:08 AM PDT

I've been working on a "twitch plays" style guided play-through of Life is Strange where users vote for every major and minor choice with(hopefully) all the consequences pre-recorded and adjusted in the video playback. It's taken a long time with 100's of videos from just episode one, which premieres on https://twitch.tv/backgroundgaming_) Thursday July 9th at 2PM EST(~an hour from this post) and again at 9PM EST. I invite you to come check it out and let me know what you think.

There's also a small write up on making the project https://www.backgroundgaming.com/a-strange-new-video-type/ if anyone is interested.

[NO SPOILERS] Joyce's parenting is questionable

Joyce:*Shows blatant favoritism towards Max and showers her with the love she rarely shows her own daughter and only takes Max's word against David, never her own daughter's word whom he abuses*

[ALL] Just finished Life is Strange after holding it off for 3 years and the ending completely broke me!

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:16 PM PDT

Just beat Life is Strange and this game is the definition of a emotional roller coaster and a tearjerker that will have me think about about this story and characters for the foreseeable future. Thanks to Dontnod Entertainment and Square Enix for bringing this touching and heartwarming graphic adventure to life. The story, characters, writing, acting, setting, morality, themes ESPECIALLY themes, symbolism, soundtrack, relationships, diversity, set design, lighting design, sound design, marketing, attention to detail, relatability, were ALL top notch when you keep in mind all of the demographics and fanbase this game had to satisfy. I cannot state enough how outstanding everything was and I truly appreciate it all and this great story will stick with me for a long time.

What can I say that hasn't been said about our favorite ship Maxine "Max" Caulfield and Chloe Price? Nothing much besides me showing my appreciation to two of my favorite female characters in all of video games. These two really felt like very real and genuine characters that would go to the moon and back for each other. Their friendship and eventual romance was very sweet and heartwarming and I want to give a special thanks to Hannah Telle and Ashly Burch for bringing them to life. Without these amazing voice actors Max and Chloe would feel like emotionless stiff caricatures and wooden cardboard cutouts like how so many other characters are portrayed in the teen genre. Besides our two leads Max and Chloe I felt that all of the characters in this game were all magnificent and compelling in their own way and contributed a lot to this great story. Whether it was Max, Chloe, Warren, Victoria, Kate, Joyce, David, Frank, Nathan, Jefferson, and even Pompidou cheers to this excellent cast of characters.

As I mentioned in the title I took a 3 year break because I know about the ending and it was gut wrenching that I had to choose between not only my best friend Chloe but also to save Arcadia Bay and at the time I didn't think I should have the right to make that choice so I stopped after I completed episode 3. As the iconic 4th Doctor says in Doctor Who "Do I have the right?" To choose between your lover and a whole town is a choose that no one should have to make. And I like that this game has such strong themes that philosophically questions your morality, ethics, and the moral event horizon of what your willing to lose to achieve your own happiness with saving Chloe and losing a whole town who for the most part can care less about you or accepting your responsibility for causing the storm with saving Arcadia Bay and losing the love of your life and best friend forever despite how far you drifted away over the years who truthfully is worth more than alot of the scum in the town.

As tough of a choice as it was and as much as I hated having to make this choice I had to do the morally right thing and sacrifice Chloe. As Spock classically says in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan "Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." I hated playing through this choice but in the end it was the ethical thing to do. Atleast we got one last kiss between our one true ship and Chloe got to say goodbye to Max finally accept the feelings they have harvested for each other. It was truly heartbreaking seeing our stoic and abrasive Queen of the World Chloe become selfless and come full circle was true character development. Chloe reassuring Max that whatever choice she makes is right choice and reaffirm her that everything will be ok in the end. Max telling Chloe that she won't let her death be in vain was a tearjerker and very sweet as well. After beating Life is Strange this quote from Person of Interest resonates with me even more, "Everyone dies alone. But if you meant something to someone, if you helped someone, or loved someone, if even a single person remembers you, then maybe you never really die. And maybe, this isn't the end at all." All in all, bravo to the cast and crew for truly making a remarkable sci-fi and coming age tale that will stand the test of time.

Pricefield4ever and as Chloe says "All those moments between us were real, and they will always be ours." no matter what choice you make Max and Chloe will stand the test of time!

[ALL] So I just started Life is Strange... I need clarification on the time mechanic

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:08 AM PDT

Sorry if this was posted already, but I was unable to find a resource that could help me with this.

So right now I'm at Chloe's house and have discovered some stuff about the father in the garage. Obviously this gave me the butterfly effect thingy, although opening and closing the cabinet does not seem to have an actual effect assuming I close it again...

Then we have the papers falling out and getting wet. Naturally I reversed time on both events. This means that Max is aware of the contents without suffering particular consequences yes? Or in this particular case of butterfly event, does Max actually need to execute the event without reversing for it to have actual impact in stuff such as conversations?

I haven't played much, but basically I'm wondering if I could snoop around, get the info and reverse, then tell Chloe without the dad being alerted somehow ahah!
