[S2] Can't stop thinking about the game

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 12:04 PM PDT

I reciently finished Life is Strange 2. And can't stop thinking about it.

I felt an inmense conection with the main character, and characters of the story, and could relate to his emotional state althrought the entire game.

Actually I felt so much connected to S2 than S1 (wich I absolutely loved, but it always felt more 'like a game'), maybe due to it's gameplay mechanics or something like that. But with S2 I was totally inmerse. The brotherhood, Sean itself, I could see so much of me in him.

I don't know.. I feel like I kinda needed to talk about this. I kinda had this feelings about fictional characters when I was young, I remember some movies touching me this way and always leaving me with a sensation of 'posibilities' and what ifs. The bittersweetness of choices and life, something's gained, something's lost. A sense of being unable to really go back to the first state of things, the nostalgia of knowing that the journey was somehow worth it, despite it's huge costs. And only the believe that the future still holds some kind of hope.

All this experiences always left me with the sensation of wanting to do something with my life, something more, experiencing more, connecting more, creating more, sharing more, being less afraid of the world around me, of the consequences, of everything.

I keep going back to the amazing soundtrack and picturing the endings in my head.

I don't think this feeling is going away soon, maybe never, maybe it's just transformed over time into something else, but today it feels so real.

I really hope they keep making this kind of brave emotional videogames, with this deep and humain characters, we need them.

I'll still need time to process the emotional journey I've experienced..

[S1] Why couldn't Max stand up to Chloe?

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 11:51 AM PDT

Why is it Max is able to stand up to everyone, but Chloe?

Max stands up to Victoria for being a bully and could even stoop up to her level by taking a picture of her covered in paint and even takes one final moment to call her out in episode 4

Max takes absolutely no shit from Nathan. Reports him, talks him down and even gets him suspended and has the option to let Warren beat him up

Max literally pulls a gun on Frank and talks shit and tosses his one true love on the ground(lolol)

Max can stand up to David, stand up for Kate and Chloe and call out David's surveillance fetish and even get David fired.

Max can say no to Warren and stop him from stooping to Nathan's level

Max can ignore Kate's call and her journal will describe Kate as "needy" if she does

Max even stands up to Jeffershit and literally tells her potential murderer to "eat shit and die"

But Max can never stand up to Chloe? Chloe can constantly guilt trip Max, throw hissy fits if Max makes decisions that doesn't benefit her, use Max's powers as her own personal toy, take money from the handicapped fund, dismiss Kate's trauma and later mocks her suicide attempt/suicide and blame everyone for problems of her own making.

Max is never allowed a moment where she can call out Chloe's toxic and abusive behavior. The perfect moment could've been after the ordeal with Rachel and Frank where she blamed Rachel and even William. But…Max doesn't. She still lets Chloe walk all over her. And even when Nightmare Max calls out Max's choices, Max herself says "Chloe does a better job at guilt tripping me than you do." The Nightmare-Max points out that Chloe bullies her, saying it's like "Stockholm syndrome" and Max herself says that Chloe guilt trips her. Nightmare-Max also says she's more worried about Chloe killing them than Jefferson also asking Max if Chloe even respects them in any way. This doesn't say healthy relationship to me. In fact it seems quite the opposite. If all those other nightmare scenes were Max's secret feelings towards them, then what is this scene where she is actually discussing with herself how she feels about Chloe?

Max should've gotten to pull a Bojack Horseman callout on Chloe
"You can't keep doing this! You can't keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about yourself as if that makes it okay! You need to be better! Chloe, stop. It's not alcohol, drugs, or your parents, David, Rachel or all the bad things that happened to you before. It's you. It's you. I want to find Rachel and get justice for Kate, but if this is how you're gonna keep treating me…Fuck, man… What else is there to say?"
