    [ALL] In LiS: Before the Storm Victoria looks kind of cute and innocent. I feel a little bit sorry for her some times. What do you think about this character?

    After finishing both games I analyzed Victoria's ark and understand her story now. She didn't have any real friends to support her, so she was very jealous to Rachel and never felt sorry after she disappeared. Then she put herself into dominant position when other girls suck up to her, because she is beloved by teachers and administration.

    After finally completing the series, I don't regret that I didn't made fun of her in the very first chapter.

    Any opinions regarding her?

    [ALL] I want to rant about Blackwell inconsistencies between BTS and LIS1...

    Because it's an absolute pain in the ass trying to figure out ways to write fanfics set in the BTS timeline while sticking to canon in a way that actually makes the original LIS characters who are attending during BTS also still be there during the events of LIS.

    For example, there's the problems with Victoria's LIS birthday inconsistencies, but also the fact that no matter which you use, BTS makes her a Sophomore at the same time Chloe is attending Blackwell. Depending on which you go by, she's either too young to be a Sophomore yet, or would've already graduated from Blackwell by the time Max arrives in Fall 2013.

    It's the same with a few other LIS characters that were included into BTS, both directly and indirectly. Like references to Stella and Brooke also being Sophomores, Warren having a dorm room when he's 13 and probably shouldn't even be at Blackwell unless he got bumped up a grade early, etc. I'm pretty sure all the LIS characters should be Freshman during BTS, otherwise the LIS timeline just doesn't add up, unless my knowledge of the US school system is wrong (since I'm from the UK).

    As a side-note, if events happen where Chloe manages to stay at Blackwell, and Rachel survives too, they'd both still graduate before Max arrives unless you come up with a reason to make them retake a year, which would make them 2nd year Seniors when Max starts as a 1st year Senior, so having Max pop up in the BTS timeline doesn't work well either unless she manages to attend Blackwell as a Freshman in Fall 2010 so she can atleast attend some of Blackwell alongside Chloe.

    So basically, you have to throw out canon completely, ignore it and pretend there's nothing wrong with LIS students attending Blackwell a year early / a year longer than they should, or figure out a bunch of convoluted ways to make sure that both BTS and LIS canon timelines are followed. This is one of the most annoying things about BTS for me; they royally screwed up how Blackwell was supposed to work. Even if it's a typical high school in BTS before it 'transitions' into a senior only school by Fall 2013, or if it keeps regular high school students while changing the dorms to senior-only accomodation for those taking part in the extended senior year program (since there's way more students at Blackwell during LIS than just those living in the dorms) which, in the case of the Sophomores during BTS they would've aged out of that second senior year by the time Max is supposed to attend. See the problem I'm having here? Grr!

    Why does Max get powers at all?

    Massive dump of a spoilers in case you ignored the blur

    First, we're going to look at the ending from the perspective of saving Arcadia Bay. What's interesting about this ending it that hardly anything is different from if Max didn't have powers at all. Rachel Amber is still dead. Chloe dies. I don't even remember if Max says anything to the police. I doubt they'd have to. They'd trace the gun back to Nathan, and Nathan fesses up about Jefferson and the Dark Room.

    So what was the point??? Well, what's different is now what Max knows before she her powers at the beginning of the week. Max now knows that even after breaking contact after moving to Seattle, Chloe still loved her. Even if Chloe's gone, just knowing that they could, and still did care about one another was important. So important that the universe would break itself just to tell Max.

    What does this mean for the Sacrifice the Bay ending. Why does keeping Chloe, after falling back in love, have such a high price? Well, maybe such destruction and negativity is tied with Chloe living is because we can't get closure like this with the Chloe's in our lives, our real friends and families. You don't get to say goodbye to the people you love like Max does. And because such an outcome is impossible in real life, the writers didn't want to paint it as the 'moral' choice. It's the ending that could only exist in a story. The unrealistic part of the story isn't really the time travel or the cosmic storm, it's getting to stay with the person you love. Sometimes you can't love them and have them too.

    What the game is saying to me is that knowing someone cares about you matters, a lot. But in real life you aren't going to get the choice to save your hometown or your goth gf. Max never knew that Chloe still cared about her because she was simply too afraid to ask. The universe did her a favor. Learn from her mistakes.

    TLDR; Universe bent over backwards to tell Max that Chloe still loved her. Such an opportunity will(probably) not arise for you in real life. Make it count

    Played through the whole series this past summer. Think LiS 1 is my favorite game of all time. Tell me your thoughts!

    Additional Edit: Time Travel is a reflection of Max's personality. She's so introspective and self-conscious she just wishes she could re-do all of her mistakes (something many of us have thought of as well). But the point of her getting her powers wasn't to make her dreams come true, it was to teach her a lesson of living in the moment through its trials and errors. She wishes she could save Chloe, but that's not how it can be. But maybe she knows now to not let the people she cares about slip by
