[NO SPOILERS] Just began watching Twin Peaks knowing that it inspired LIS. The best thing in it is to find characters who can be the prototypes of the LIS ones. Nathan REALLY reminds me of both Audrey and Bobby. This is crazy

    [All] Favorite LIS Title

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 08:38 AM PST

Hey guys, I just finished up LIS2 last night after beating BTS and LIS. And all I can say is WOW, I was shocked at how powerful and amazing these games were, I couldn't believe I had never even heard of the series until recently. Luckily, my friend recommended me BTS last month after beating TWD series and was looking for a new narrative driven game and I was not disappointed (even if I was sobbing half the time). I still can't stop thinking about the 3 games and their sad endings. But anyway, I was just wondering which one of the main 3 titles was your favorite?

    [All] Beautiful Dreams

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 09:40 AM PST

Last night I had a dream about hanging out with Kate and Max! We started walking through Blackwell and then went swimming. That's all I remember sadly but I've had a few dreams since my play through early last year. I was wondering if any of you beautiful people have had dreams from LiS! I'd love to hear about them! Have a great day everyone!

[ALL] Would you befriend the toxic characters?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 04:33 AM PST

This came to mind after my talk with a friend about LiS today. She said she doesn't think she'd want to be friends with Chloe because she thinks she's toxic... or Rachel because she's manipulative... it was a huge EHHHH moment for me. Ironically she still apparently bawled at the sacrifice Chloe ending and ships AmberPrice and amberpricefield.

Like, I get why she'd call them toxic... to be fair practically almost every character in LiS was toxic, but I generally believe that we're all toxic to an extent— it just depends whether you're toxic to yourself (which I think Chloe and Rachel were) or to other people or a little bit of both.

But I'm curious about the fandom. Would you still want to be friends with someone like Chloe, Rachel, Victoria or even Nathan? Or are you friends with anyone who reminds you of them?

    [S1 E2] I don't know if I should continue Life is Strange

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 09:43 AM PST

A few weeks ago I found a random $25 gift card for the Xbox store and thought, holy shit! Sweet! So I had cashed it in and browsed for some games to buy. I stumbled upon a great deal for Life is Strange, which had been on my radar for a while now. So I bought the full with only $5 being subtracted from my gift card, and got strait to playing it. And in the first hour or so, I was having a blast! I loved walking around interacting with all of the characters and using my superpower to alter the past. The only thing that really stuck out to me at first was how Max's body was constantly getting in the way of the screen, which I found really annoying and distracting, but I got used to it pretty quickly. And after two days, I was done with the first chapter, which I thought was pretty decent. Could of been better. But I gave it a pass, since I had been reading that the game picks up majorly after the first chapter. So I kept going, and I have now beat the second chapter. And damn, was it boring! I had to play it in twenty minute chunks to keep my dying interest in the game still going, and even with that I was getting bored of all of the bad game play and overlong cut scenes. And if your thinking, well, it's a slow burn story driven game, probably not for you, well, I love those types of games! Night in the Woods, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Oxenfree are some of my all time favorites!

But the one thing that disappointed me the most about Life is Strange is the characters. Damn, they suck! Good characters that you can care about, and laugh with, and relate are what makes story driven games so special! But Life is Strange's characters only made me hate them! They are all boring cliches, especially the antagonists, who are all way to over the top. As for the two main characters, Max has absolutely no personality or charm, and is most of the time just a mumbling idiot no matter what dialog option you choose. As for Chloe, oh god, about 90% of the time that she was on screen, I was hoping that she would drop dead, which leads the game to an even bigger problem. I really don't care what happens to any of the characters. Like when you have to save Chloe from the railroads, I really didn't give a shit about her death, which turned that scene from a potentially heart pounding race, into a boring slog with a character I hate whining every three seconds. See, if you replaced that character with someone likable, well written and relatable, like say nearly every character from Undertale or Night in the Woods, then it would become thrilling. But no, instead the game was forcing me to care about a stupid ass brat. The dialog dose not help anything, ether. Most of it is painful to listen to, haven't the developers learned to never use slang in writing! It may sound good for a month or so, but after that, it just makes you cringe every time you hear it. And I get that it's hard for adults to write in the perspective of a kid, but please, slang just makes the dialog sound ten times worse!

Look, while it might not seem that way, I am not trying to hate on this game. There are several things that I love about it, such as the beautiful art style, competent voice acting, and a intriguing story line. Plus, the time shifting ability is just a genius idea, and they end up doing several creative this about it. but I wish that they weren't so outweighed by the bad things. I just want to know if I should keep going, and if it gets any better on the third chapter. Because if in the next chapter they improve on the sluggish gameplay and pacing, or introduce a likable new character or at least have a few great character arcs, or if Chloe falls into a wood chipper, then please tell me, because I will gladly pick up this game again! Surfing through metacritic, clearly people love this game, and I really hope that the game picks itself up in chapter 3. Or maybe it dosent, and the game really just isn't for me! Please let me know!

[ALL] So how did you choose your ending (for both games)?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 08:06 AM PST

Little late to the party, I know. I played through LiS 1 sometime in last August and finished Lis 2 today. Just thought it would be interesting to hear what thought process other people went through to choose the ending they did.

Personally, for LiS 1 it was Sacrifice Cloe. I do believe they were in love. I just couldn't see how it was fair to sacrifice the lives of literally everyone else in Arcadia Bay just to save Cloe.

For LiS 2 I got Parting Ways (Sean Alone. Didn't really feel the need to romance Finn or Cassidy along the way). Basically I just thought that all Sean wanted was to get to Mexico and they already made it so far, they can't really lose anything more by crossing the border than by surrendering.

I am NOT looking for arguments over which ending was better or bashing of other peoples' reasons, just interested in different viewpoints

[ALL] So I just had a dream

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 02:37 PM PST

I think this happened from thinking about dreams but yes so there was a play and it was the Tempest. Rachel was Prospera and I was myself (as Ariel I think) this time. Literally the only LiS character was Rachel. Anyways we did the play and for some reason there was a scene where Prospera had to put eye drops on Ariel and then I actually forgot my lines so I acted like an idiot when Prospera improvised and asked why I was jumping around, I just said 'because everyone before was jumping and skipping around so I must carry on this act of stupidity'. I was terrible btw I could tell I was giving Rachel such a hard time LMAO

And then when she came forward to apply the eye drops, again I forgot my lines so when the eye drops came I dropped to the floor excruciatingly rolling over and screaming ARGHH MY EYES MY EYES!! Only the weird kid in the audience laughed. And then I pretended to be blind so Rachel had to lead me to the side to finish my scene and she whispered to me "I'll check up on you later". She didn't sound mad. She just sounded worried for me.

AND I FELT SO BAD BECAUSE MY LACK OF MEMORIZATION FAILED TO ENTICE THE AUDIENCE AND HAVE THAT MEMORABLE DECLARATION OF LOVE IMPROVISATION FROM RACHEL IN THE GAME.

Yes I don't know what happened next because I woke up. Also I'm writing this at 5 am in the morning so my thoughts r all very incoherent. Ty I'm now going back to sleep.

[No Spoilers] A question about the storyline

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 04:33 PM PST

I recently bought LIS 1, LIS 2, and LIS : BTS.
I have not played any of them or seen anything about the story so I'm going in blind. I'm just wondering if there is a certain order they are meant to be played in, or if its all 1 major story, and if so, what order.
