    [ALL] Headcanon: Rachel is the butterfly

    I know this has been discussed since the beginning of time but I just wanna get this out of my system.

    I know people usually say that Chloe's the butterfly and Rachel's the doe because when they discover her burial the doe suddenly disappears. But then again Max wears a lot of doe related things even till the sad ending, and Samuel (who I still do not understand til this day) even mentioned that the doe must be Max's spirit animal so I'm choosing to see the doe as Max's spirit animal.

    The reason why I don't believe Chloe is the butterfly however, is mainly because it appears before she even died and it was the one that gave Max the power to rewind time the first place and save Chloe. Like yes I know that there was a blue butterfly drawing/poster in her room in the alternate timeline and in Max's diary she was even drawn with the wings, but it can be argued that Max simply associated the butterfly with Chloe since it was something she saw before that monumental moment in her life. If anything, I actually think that the blue jay in the Price household was the one representing Chloe. Price household > keeps dying unless you save it (like Max having to save Chloe several times). Or if we take BtS into consideration then her spirit animal could even b the raven because it appears constantly (around Chloe whether in dream or real life) yet no one seems to say anything about it.

    Which leaves me to considering Rachel as the butterfly now. I mean, she was the only one dead before the butterfly came, and you could argue that it was her death that propelled the 'butterfly effect' > Chloe dying > Max rewinding time > starting the storm. Plus the homeless lady said Rachel was connected to a lot of things in Arcadia Bay so she's obviously important just like how the butterfly is. ALSO the biggest reason for me to think of this theory is because at the end of the sad ending, the blue butterfly comes again and rests on Chloe's, as if they're both finally reuniting again :')

    If Rachel was the butterfly then that means she wanted Max to save Chloe, in spite of the storm that would come from it. If we know anything about Rachel it's that she's destructive and impulsive. She would sacrifice Arcadia Bay in a heart beat for Chloe because her love is destructive. Also it's kind of a nice touch that Rachel's iconic earring is a feather.

    So my headcanon is basically that the doe was Max's spirit animal (and possibly Rachel's as well since it's confirmed it's connected to her), the blue jay (or even the raven) was Chloe's spirit animal while the butterfly was Rachel's spirit herself.

    I went down a YouTube rabbit hole of watching Life is strange unused audio dialogue and other fan created content. Some of this audio was very much shipping Max and Chloe as a thing (or that's just what I felt). All the comments were saying "why didn't they keep this in the game!!" But I commend don't nod for removing them.

    As for me, the way I played it, Max was just a long lost friend whose friendship was rekindled after a long time apart. When I played before the storm, Rachel was the love interest, but I could have just had them as friends as well. I think the ability for the player to choose what relationship they wanted with the each of the characters is amazing design.

    But I want to know your thoughts. Should it have been more directed, and so more likely for them to create sequels? Or do you feel the same?

    [ALL] Unpopular opinion: LiS2 is so much better than LiS1 and LiS BtS

    The second game's story was so much better, and it made me cry. Also, how your decisions and actions not only shaped Sean and the story, but also your brother Daniel made you rethink every action twice. LiS1 was pretty cringy in a lot of parts but of course still interesting with all the mental health talk and the coming of age story. The realness of the second game got me though, the racism talk, police brutality and just the bond between the brothers. I, as a big sister, loved this game so much. That last decision? Oof... The endings where also pretty heavy and realy. I love this game!
