[ALL] Approach to playing the games?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 10:24 AM PST

Wondering how other people approach the games.

By this I mean decision making, whether chloe or max or whothefuckever. Personally, I tend to play how I imagine the character would react. This often conflicts my own opinions, but I usually go with the "this is what Max would say" route.

Sometimes I override this plan with "but I can't!" and interject my own thoughts into it. e.g. I struggle to stay out of Kate's argument with David in S1, E1. I just can't do it, I have to intervene. Even though I don't think max would get so ballsy, at least that early on in the game.

But mostly, I stick to character interpretation. Then I'll explore during my later playthroughs, of course. Try different decisions. (my favourite being the "fuck everyone" play. where I'm on my own side. No people pleasing. Very fun. )

How about you? Do you project onto the character in their decisions? Or do you play as the character? Maybe you play tactically, to get the best outcomes. Tell! Now!

[ALL] It's not fair to hate Daniel

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 03:17 AM PST

I agree Daniel wasn't a perfect where he could be an annoying, whiny brat sometimes. I dislike him the most in EP3, but I forgive him later on.

Chloe wasn't perfect either in LIS1 where she behaved selfish and sometimes got irrationally angry at Max. Both Daniel and Chloe were traumatized by the loss of their father (Esteban & William) and also felt neglected by another person that they love (Sean & Max). As Sean grew older, he wanted his privacy/personal space and hang out with his friends more, which made Daniel feel being left out. Daniel also missed the life that he had a home to stay and wanted to have people at his age to hang out with because it must be very hard of him for being homeless and parentless. Losing a parent at young age hurts a lot since a parent gives their child a sense of trust and security.

Daniel was likely to be bratty if Sean was being mean, neglecting him. In the opposite, he listened to Sean more likely if the player went for high morality approach. Unlike Chloe in EP3, she still said "F*ck everybody" after discovering Rachel had a relationship with Frank, even if Max sided with her instead of David. I sympathize her pain because of her harsh past just like I sympathize Daniel having a hard life while being 9-year old.

[ALL] If LiS was going to be adapted into a TV series, who would you want the Protagonist to be?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 12:29 AM PST

Protagonist would mean the show would revolve around this character and we'll mostly be following them while the rest would be Main Characters.

Or if you prefer an Ensemble Cast (no single specific protagonist eg GoT), then who would they be?

Also, would you change anything about the story?

[No Spoilers] I love Life is Strange Before the storm

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 05:56 PM PST

I really don't know what to say. I bought the game after playing through the first game and early enjoying it. I am finding the game amazing. I'm currently at the start of episode 3 and looking forward to both the bonus episode and how Before the Storm ends. I just can't put my finger on why but ive enjoyed every second of this game and when im playing it I just love it and I really can't put my finger on why I feel that for this game

[NO SPOILERS] The future direction of Life is Strange

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 04:53 PM PST

I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for this but here it goes. Just throwing my thoughts out there. As of recent it has been rumored that DeckNine will be developing some or if not all of the games going foward since Square Enix & Dontnod's relationship is supposedly deminishing. Now that's a just rumor but if true I don't know how to feel about DeckNine taking over. Before the Storm was pretty boring imo and contained a couple inconsistencies with the first game. It's far from a bad game, it has its moments but to me it just didn't hit like the first or even 2nd game in most cases. It also catered too much to the Amberprice fans & it overall felt like some kind of fanfiction/high school drama from the first game but cranked up to 1,000 just like the current Comics in a way. (Although they did perfect the Farewell episode, that alone made the game for me 👌❤️). Whereas LiS 2 by Dontnod felt like something fresh and new. It had some great ideas & some were admittedly executed poorly but it just felt great to see new characters, powers & locations each time. This is something that also might trigger some here but If the series is in DeckNines hands I hope they keep the anthology element Dontnod wants for the series & not cater to much to Max,Chloe, and Rachel's story anymore that I think people yearn for currently. While I think there story's were absolutely phenomenal overall there's nothing really more to tell & it'd basically be beating a dead horse. Give us new well written characters & story arcs to keep the franchise feeling fresh. Either way, I'm exited for a new game in general. I'm hearing that the next one will have a similar atmosphere and tone to the 1st and I'm stoked about that alone! This franchise will ever hold a special spot in my heart as I know it will to many here. Lol this was probably all over the place but I'm sure you guys get what I'm overall trying to say. That's just my two cents on where the series should go though, feel free to discuss!
