[S2] New character concept art for Life is Strange 2 by Florent Auguy

[ALL][S1] Just Finished LiS1 - WOW. My heart hurts, and my brain is in overdrive. What choice did you make at the very end during your first playthrough? Why? How did you resolve the moral implications? How did you decide what you could 'live with'?

    Posted: 12 May 2021 07:40 AM PDT

What an amazing, though provoking game. Life is Strange presents us with some pretty interesting, and at times, gut wrenching decisions. Sometimes you can comfortably decide knowing you have the ability to undo it if necessary, and other times you are forced to live with the consequences of your decisions.

The most gut wrenching decision was the one at the very end: do you sacrifice Chloe to save Arcadia Bay, or sacrifice Arcadia Bay to save Chloe

At first, I thought it would be an 'impossible situation' like the Trolley Problem (I say impossible because I'm still not sure how I would decide, despite knowing what should be the right answer, namely to save the most number of people). Being a Trekkie, I immediately thought to "The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few". Selfishly, I wanted to save Chloe but knew saving Arcadia Bay was the 'right' thing to do given how many would die. In the end, I ended up asking whether I could let go of someone I loved like this...and leaned towards saving Chloe. I could live with that decision. Especially if the person I loved was by my side.

But then Chloe herself said that she wanted to be sacrificed...and as heartbreaking as it was, I went completely the other way. If I saved Chloe, I'd be going against her wishes AND injuring/killing the people in Arcadia Bay. That tipped the scales for me because it meant I'd not only be taking away the autonomy of the Arcadia Bay citizens, but Chloe's as well. So I saved Arcadia Bay knowing full well it meant Chloe would die never knowing what happened to Rachel, thinking Max had left her, not knowing her step father cared for her etc. Ouf.

Strangely enough, I was comfortable with denying her wish to kill her in the alternate timeline. Maybe because I felt like it wasn't my decision to make, but something she and her parents would have to decide. I found it a much easier decision, even though technically the choice paralleled the one near the end

Would love to hear what everyone else was thinking when they made the tough decision? Why did you make whatever decision you made? How did you wrestle with the consequences? And how did the final decision differ from the decision you made in the alternate timeline?

[S1][C1] Read all the comics last night in one sitting... I have so many thoughts

    Posted: 12 May 2021 06:15 AM PDT

For context (you can skip this if you want): I've been a casual fan; I only watched playthroughs on Youtube, but then both LiS1 and LiS2 went on sale on steam so I bought both. I've now finished my first playthrough of LiS1 with my friend, and then found the comics. In the past I've only mildly shipped Pricefield. I saw the hints but didn't really connect with their relationship that much throughout LiS1. This leads me to my first note

I ship Pricefield 100x more now after reading the comics. Before, I always wondered what Max and Chloe would go off and do after the tornado. Seeing them live together and go through more struggles together, before eventually Max becomes separated from her version of Chloe really got me. I need this reunion ASAP.

I love Tristan and he really reminds me of Nico from PJO. I'm glad he's finally found people who care for him and that he's even got a romantic interest. His powers are pretty cool and the fact that Max got to meet another person with powers is so great. I really liked his role as the messenger to Max's Chloe about how she's trying to come back.

The Brody cameo! Ah, I loved that. I immediately tried placing the comic into the timeline of LiS2, but then I realized this is the reality where Rachel didn't die, so all bets are off the table. Assuming Brody's life hasn't changed, I think his phone call suggests he's on his way to see his mom, so he either will meet Sean and Daniel, or already has. I forget the location of that diner, but if it's got one then we could probably deduce that.

Delving deeper into Max's powers is so interesting. I really like how they've been used so far to mess with Max mind, like the first Warren conversation. All the flickers Max has to go through in the early issues really drove the story.

I haven't watched or played Before the Storm, so all the Rachel content was a first for me. She seems really nice, and I can't imagine how difficult Max's position is having to live with a Chloe in love with Rachel instead of her. That conversation Rachel and Max have in the public bathroom while putting on the pirate clothes was really sweet.

All in all, I really enjoyed the comics. So many moments had me geeking out or tearing up or anxiously clicking on the next issue.

Could someone explain to me what happened to Issue 2.5? Was it delayed by COVID or just straight up cancelled? Is issue 3.1 going to pick off where 2.4 left off? Thanks. If you've read this far, you're a real one :)

    [ALL] Is LiS2 worth continuing?

    Posted: 12 May 2021 12:12 PM PDT

Just started playing the first episode because it's free and I gotta say that I am baffled.

I am not going to get into all of the "political" story beats and characters, but even without them the story is still terrible.

Let's just accept the fact that the mc and his family just happen to have a needlessly huge asshole as a neighbour and a local cop who must have been eating mushrooms in his car:

Why did my playable character hit that other kid even though just 10 seconds ago I agreed with him that what what Daniel did was wrong? I have never played an adventure game where your playable character does something so stupid without it being preventable.

Why did the cop shoot the father? The scene wasn't frantic at all. This is one of those cases where the writers wanted the story to go somewhere, but they didn't give a single fuck as to how it would get there. Also, the nerve of the mc to claim that it wasn't his fault that the neighbour hit his head. He is 100% responsible.

Why did they go on the run? It's such a stupid idea even for a 16 year old..

Does the second season get better or did the writers shit the bed completely? I loved LIS1 and BTS, but I don't know if I want to invest money without hearing some opinions from fans.

[ALL] Do you think Alex and Sean would get along?

I know there have been previous discussions on whether or not Max and Sean would get along on this but what about Alex and Sean?

    [All] So why did Sean...

    Posted: 12 May 2021 03:30 AM PDT

I just started the episode 4 of Life is Strange 2. Sean is under police custody and they're interrogating him. When the detective asked him to tell the truth, why didn't he say it? It might be that they won't believe him, but trying won't hurt. Even when his grandparents asked him, why didn't he tell them the truth? And at the first place why did he run away after the Seattle incident?
