[NO SPOILERS] Me and some friends made a short game inspired by Life is Strange 1 (Desiderium)

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 12:32 PM PST

    Hey all!

Before you get your hopes up too high, it's just a short walking sim that lasts about 10 - 20 minutes.
Desiderium is heavily inspired by games like Life is Strange 1 and Gone Home, building on their foundation of strong narratives. The game features a young woman returning home from college, and as she wanders through her old house she starts remembering an old friend that she failed to keep in touch with over the years.
The game is fully voiced, and totally free!

I thought some of you might be interested, seeing as it is an homage to the LIS-type games!

You can download Desiderium here: https://dreamteamstudio.itch.io/desiderium

    [S2 E5] Why didn't Daniel..

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 08:15 AM PST

Could be mentioned before, but a bit late to the party so..

Why didn't Daniel just lift the car over the wall? They could have hit the the ground running :) I mean the first time they approached the border.

I know, I know.. artistic freedom and story.

[ALL] I'm pretty sure "Lone Wolf" is the true ending and here's why

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 07:41 AM PST

In the Lone Wolf ending, as you should know, Sean is shot and killed, leaving Daniel by himself in Puerto Lobos. In a not-so-brief summary, it's dark, depressing and definetly not the desired outcome after (in-game) months of a journey. Daniel is shown on a beach drawing a wolf (I think) and proceeds to place it on Sean's grave, which we're left to assume he made himself in a similar fashion to Mushroom's.

My only real link is a reference to the first few moments of Episode 1, primarily the Racoons Sean and Daniel encounter. As they are walking down the road, the player can inspect a dead racoon on the road, which is obviously not a good sign in any regard. Later on, Daniel points out another racoon, who is by himself in the forrest. Daniel then questions if they may have been brothers. It's kinda STRANGE that Daniel would assume that straight away, huh. I believe it's light foreshadowing for later events and that the racoon being by himself in the forrest represents a lost soul in a big world (or something like that). Sean died on the road, just like the racoon. Daniel survived, but was left in a new area, one that wasn't like before. The linear road is very different to the wide forrest.

Another point that could be made is that the likelihood of them making it at all is unlikely in a real situation. Yes, I know Daniel is a frickin X-Man so reality doesn't give a shit but, hear me out. In the other endings, the brothers seem to just move on. Other than the prison ending, neither one seems to deal with as much as they probably should. The most realistic would be Lone Wolf, as both may have been assumed to be dead after Sean was found dead in the car. Daniel hiding out and doing what it takes to survive makes a lot of sense after that, having no real guidance or identification. This point is kinda weak but I hope it makes sense.

Finally, the game does make a point of how somoeone's life could just flip on them just like that in near every episode. Death was a common thing, so a main character death could be considered karma. Sean got what he gave out, in a sense. No mercy, no remorse. This one is broad af so I won't write it all, but its speaks for itself if you played the bad-bad route.

I know you're gonna disagree because Sean x Cassidy must persist or something, but opinions are a valid thing. Add your own if you want and... talk?

[S2] A question about situation in the US

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 10:48 AM PST

There are many racist encounters in the game:

    • The encounter with the racist neighbor which led to killing the cop and beginning of the game.
    • At the gas station, the fact the police were looking the brothers was clearly only part of the reason the owners captured them, there were racist and didn't try to hide it.
    • It the desert, Sean's encounter with two racist friends and the Spanish song.
    • The vigilantes at the end of the season.
    • Have I forgotten anything?

So I haven't ever been to the US, and the amount of these encounters has really surprised me. I guess it's one of the key elements of the story but I would really like to know - it racism against Hispanic people so common and widespread? I thought it was much more low-key than the game shows.

    [All] Comparison

[All] LIS 2 EP 5 - I got a pretty sad ending and I’m disappointed how my story ended.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 03:05 AM PST

For me, it's a more realistic ending. But it's not the greatest one. Daniel lives a healthy and peaceful life but Sean was robbed of his youth for a crime he didn't commit. And seeing him broken, breaking apart in the middle of Daniels sentence is just so sad to see. When they are in that camp fire, 15 years later, they are both polar opposites. Daniels body language is expressive, joyful and alive but Sean is closed off, cold and The word "Nightmares" popped into my head as Sean crouched his head in sobbing. I got this ending, at first I thought it was "good" but after watching the others; the one where they own a shop in Mexico and they are together, is the best. They may not be living in the best environment but atleast they are together, they are safe and they both still have a chance to redeem themselves and fight to become better individuals.

Update: listening to all your responses, Blood Brothers probably isn't the best ending for them after all. And maybe the redemption ending I got isn't so bad as it seems. Because Daniel is well and alive and Sean isn't a fugitive anymore.

    [S2 E5] I’m stuck

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 09:23 AM PST

    I'm completely stuck

My objectives only say to wait for Karen to come back and I've literally interacted with everything I can and nothing is happening.

    I'm completely stuck.

I know there's a quest of secret treasure hunt or whatever but I never got the option for that and it's not letting me go into Karen's RV anyway

    What do I do
