[NO SPOILERS] I live in Australia. As you may already know, a lot of it is on fire. There is now too much fire too handle. One of which is about to consume all of Kangaroo Island, South Aus. I have a lot of family there and the island was a big part of my childhood. The place felt like Arcadia Bay.

[ALL] Is it even possible to play the Bonus Episode (Farewell) without crying?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 03:14 AM PST

After playing Season 1 and Before the Storm, I had tears in my eyes throughout the whole bonus episode, already knowing how the story goes after that.

But it made me glad that I chose Chloe instead of Arcadia Bay in Season 1. It's selfish, I know, but Chloe and Max deserve each other.

How did you feel after this episode?

    [No Spoilers] Just played LiS1

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:08 PM PST

A friend bought me the games for Christmas. I honestly feel like I've become a part of something bigger than me. The game is so complex and beautiful.

I feel like there is this nostalgia for Arcadia Bay now. A place I've never been that feels like home.

I found myself considering the implications of the game. Would this choice grant me favor? Would this choice hurt me later on?

It makes me consider my words more carefully. Am I being attentive to my love? To my friends? To my family?

I think I need a therapy session after this game!

[S2 E5] Why do people hate Daniel?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:09 PM PST

I understand most of the people that say he's just annoying but if we really think about what he's gone through, can we really blame this little kid for all of his internal conflict? First off, I understand Sean panicked when he ran but what's sad is that Daniel never really got a choice in all of that. Sean made that decision for him, even if it was for the sake of staying together. He's made it clear throughout the whole game, that he never wanted to keep running. He loses his dad, and prior to the game— he blamed himself for his mom leaving. He literally grew up with abandonment issues just like Sean did, except he grew up having to blame himself because what are you supposed to think when your mom leaves months after you were born? He always yearned to know about his mom (thus Karen's ID in the flashback) but obviously Sean wasn't open to that idea, up until Sean finally gave in at the Reynold's when Danny reiterates he knows nothing about her. Look at how fascinated he was about her room, how curious he was to know everything about her. I had friends who could relate to Dan but some end up hating their dad, or just being too sad to talk about it. In eps 2, he faces loss head on this time with Mushroom— then he finally meets his grandparents whom he still loved, and had to lose them too. He never gets a choice in all of this, we did. Then the one person he could fully depend on, he has to cling on— drifts away, for good reason but that still won't help with Daniel's abandonment issues and such. That's why he started to cling on to Finn, as a big brother figure— because he feels like he's losing Sean. If Daniel didn't demonstrate some kind of anger or moodiness, that would be more surprising. Hems been packing that in for so long, he even said he wasn't directly angry at Sean. It was more about being angry at the world. Then in the end of eps 3, he runs just as Sean told him to do when there is danger. And we can say he's also just following Sean's footsteps, at that point, he thought he completely lost Sean, that he might've been dead. Ep. 4 should have been obvious for some people but I'm glad many caught that the manipulation on Daniel is easily explained by his lifetime longing for a mother figure. Yes he saw Sean getting beaten, it's not like he didn't care. He was having a hard time to process anything because he actually thought he found the motherly love he's been longing for his entire life, he was just so torn apart that he didn't know what to do. He didn't want to go with Sean because he always felt like he didn't have a choice under his wing, and Lisbitch used that. She makes him think he has a choice. Daniel finally tries to start making his own choices, even if he thought staying at Haven Point was the best choice. At this point he even makes it known that he might've felt like a burden for Sean's plan on running away, since again, he never wanted to go to Mexico. In ep 5, depending on what we have taught him, it's not only our choice anymore— it's his as well. He finally gets to make a choice, and they get to make it together. But if we go against what we've been teaching him, he'll do what he thinks Sean would have done if he was in Daniel's position.

[ALL] A game that is very much like Life is Strange, despite being nothing like Life is Strange

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 01:22 PM PST

Played Seer's Isle over holiday despite the fact I usually don't go in for VNs and really liked it. Despite it, on the surface, having nothing in common with LiS, being a totally different type of game set in a different time and place, I very much got the vibe. People sometimes ask here for games similar to LiS and I'd put this right up there with Edith Finch and Gone Home.

Vaguely defined mystical shenanigans, a group of young adults who don't get along as well as they might, beautifully haunting natural environments, a bit of time wank, being imperiled by superpowered children, the girl with the freckles knows more than she lets on, the endingsseem specifically engineered to deny you closure etc. etc.

Am I crazy? Anybody else played it? Anybody else get that LiS feel?

    [S2] Ages?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:55 AM PST

What do you think the ages of Finn and Cassidy are? I couldn't help but cringe at the idea that Sean isn't 18 and both Finn and Cassidy seem to be in their late teens early 20s. I know they are on the run and the law wouldn't matter to them and they are all close in age but it still was a thought that was in the back of my head. Especially since you can romance either one and have (possible) sex with Cassidy. I believe the age of consent where they was in CA is 18 and Sean is 16.
