[S1] What a beautiful game I did not expect to cry in the end

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 01:39 AM PDT

Never has a game affected me so much like this game I was going into the full game on YouTube thinking it was just gonna be the misadventures of this girl and her time travel powers but oh man oh man was I wrong.

This game made me think about a lot of stuff from my friends to the choices I've made in life it made me realize that even if we choose our actions carefully we still won't know the outcome until it happens. The sit downs with Max talking about her childhood brought back some memories of my own of that I also can't remember a game that made me smile so much too.

The twists were completely out of nowhere I really wasn't expecting this game to take a turn for the worse and that ending..... I've never cried so hard at a type of media before this was the first time I've ever cried at a video game it's crazy that I did but after going through all that and seeing the person choose to sacrifice Chloe the music and everything after that was just so much to handle.

It's been days and I'm still thinking about it with a certain feeling always coming over me whenever I think about the ending hell even the other ending isn't even pleasant like everyone says there is really no right or wrong here.

I'm loving the community tho such a nice place it brings me comfort knowing I'm not the only one that felt this way it's still mind blowing to me that a game affected me like this but I'm happy I played it.

Choose your actions carefully out there guys and please spend time with your family and friends you never know what can happen in just a few seconds or minutes.

[ALL] Exactly why LIS and LIS BTS are my favorite games ever

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 11:42 AM PDT

i just finished playing BTS a few weeks ago, and my god, i just had to share how i was feeling about these games. If i can even articulate my emotions through writing. Such fantastic and powerful games.

So, I first played LIS in around 2017/18, was amazing, was and still is one of my favorite games. From the environments, the character developments, even the small details like taking pictures around the world, made it so amazing. I honestly felt for those characters, I felt chloes resentment and anger towards Max, and her feeling of depression and anger for losing Rachel, I felt Kate's sadness and depression, I felt Joyces helplessness when trying to save Chloe from herself, etc. The games really make you feel for those characters, it makes them life like and real, as if they actually exist in some other universe. The same goes for BTS

When I heard there was a prequel for chloe I was so excited and bought it immediately, they really blew me away with this one. I mean, damn the characters felt so real, ive already said that but i must emphasize it one again lol. The story was amazing, i did NOT see that coming with Rachels mom, like that was literally the last thing i was expecting from Rachels story.

It was also really hard for me to play BTS, there was always a sense of helplessness and sadness when playing. Because I know exactly what happens to rachel and there is nothing I can do to save her, like a different kind of helplessness than replaying a game and knowing a character is gonna die if that makes sense, like you know she is gonna die, and she seems so clueless, like idk its just messed up because if only she knew what her death caused. i dont know how to articulate it, playing BTS for the first time was just heart breaking, in a different way than replaying a game a second or third time and seeing a character you like die. its just different for me.

like for most of the game i was really sad while playing because Rachel and Chloes bond seemed unbreakable, and how much chloe cared about rachel, and how much potential rachel had and how much good she could do with her life. it was just depressing to see how her story ended, along with seeing chloe so miserable without her in lis. but its realistic, some people die, and others have to mourn them, its just how life works. and thats why i especially love those games, they arent afraid to bring real topics into their games that affect peoples lives everyday, like most games wouldnt put the stuff LIS and LIS BTS did, like suicide, getting drugged, murder etc etc. Although its sad, its realistic, and i especially love realism in games, idc about plot being realistic, i care about characters emotions feeling real. which is exactly what both games do for me, and thats amazing.

One thing I really liked about both games is how they didn't directly tell you how the protagonists felt, you made assumptions based off what they wrote in their journal, their responses to text messages, etc. its really cool how they do a lot of exposition through both of those, like i hate it when games explain everything so directly its uncomfortable and awkward. Its nice how obvious yet subtle they tell you plot details or characters emotions that aren't apparent through their actions in the moment.

It really feels like you are actually reading someone's diary. which both feels really cool that they were able to get that sense of vulnerability from both characters through their diaries but it also feels kind of wrong, as if your invading someones privacy.

There was multiple times in both games where i felt uncomfortable because the characters emotions felt so real, i felt like a creep watching the characters interact with eachother, which is good since that proves how life like the characters are you know? Like when Rachel and Chloe were arguing in the junkyard i literally turned to look away since i felt so uncomfortable, like it really felt like a real arguement between them to the point where i felt like i should leave, which is SO amazing they were able to get that. They really brought these characters to life and its something i have never ever seen before, its mindblowing how life like everyone is.

And I think i mentioned it earlier, but i think its so cool how you realistically interact with the environment through taking pictures and dong graffiti, or even talking to side chatacters. Like taking pictures with max really emphasizes how much photography means to her, and with chloe doing graffiti really shows how much of a rebel she is and how badass she is lol.

and the music for both games, fantastic! i could listen to Chloes menu theme for HOURS and i mean HOURS, same with maxs, but i like chloes a tad bit better lol. The music for both games was really good, they did a good job with getting music that fit with the moment but also matches the characters emotions/general kind of vibe they are giving off in that specific moment.

Also, the way the menu transitions to different stages after completing an episode IS SO COOL!

But after playing both games, i kind of have a void. Like that really made me think about how all of our actions DO have consequences (i sound like lose my marbles kid) Like every single thing you do impacts the world around you and how the people in your life feel about you and how they react to you. Everything in this game has a reaction to your actions, just like in real life.

And i think giving maxs rewind powers really shows that, like everything you do puts your and everyone/thing around you on a path. But I think rewind is kind of a metaphor for "You can't rewind, so you might as well make the most of your situation" Like it shows how we actually impact everything, and if we make mistakes we live with them. I dont really think I can articulate it, just how sometimes we can't really articulate our feelings. Like the games mean something, but its more of a feeling than just a sentence on piece of paper, or a word on a phone. Just like life, there is a meaning to everything. We just can't describe it, in words. Its more of an experience than anything else.

and at that ill think ill end it,

i could honestly go on for hours, and i probably will add to this later, but im tired. and i want to keep this as short as possible. its already almost a fucking novel lol.

thank you for reading! feel free to share your thoughts and ideas and pm me if you want to talk about more LIS stuff lol.

[S2] Just finished the game and absolutely loved it

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 01:53 PM PDT

LiS2 is the one that gets the most hate around here, but I got hooked up from the start and just found it painful to put down the controller once in a while. Sean and Daniel's relationship is sincere and heartwarming, and all the people they find during their dramatic journey are such awesome and deep characters.

But what I really loved is the tone of the story and the message underneath it. That there are people who cannot, or just don't want to, conform to society. That sometimes, there are people who want something for themselves, and wasting their life looking after someone else isn't their ideal future. That there are alternatives. That society sometimes oppress us too much, and not everyone are able to conform.

I loved Brody and his individualism, his refusal to conform to his family's expectations and his willingness to cut bridges in exchange for freedom. I loved Cassidy and the rest of the crew and their carefree nature, focusing on the good out of any situations, and their willingness to face hardships in exchange for freedom. And I loved Karen, who tried and ultimately failed to fit in a standard life, and her willingness to hurt others in exchange for freedom and her own happiness.

And what surprised me the most is the ending. If you are a good guy and teach your brother to be a good person, then you get to spend a good portion of your life in jail, wasted forever. Congratulation, you tried your best to not hurt others, and you get fucked. Most games reward you for being a good guy, but not this.

[ALL] I just finished Before the Storm and it was a fucking experience!

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 05:52 PM PDT

This game was nuts, i just finished it and I'm still on some emotional high so bear with me. I've never cried over a game until today. I decided to buy it when it was on sale yesterday and I'm sad that its over. It threw me through so many emotions, drew parallels to my life, and gave me a new perspective on life as a whole. Its honestly the best game I've ever played.

(And a big middle finger to the developers for putting the bunker photoshoot cameo at the end that was fucked)

[ALL] I hope somewhere in the future Life is Strange will get a remaster

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 05:50 PM PDT

I don't know maybe in 50 years or more, a game publisher will stumble upon this game and think "this game deserves an upgrade in graphics" but leaving the story and voice acting untouched.

I recently watched some cutscenes of Death Stranding and was amazed how the face and hair looked so realistic. I wonder what Max and Chloe would look like with the graphics of that game. I mean realistic flowing hair on Max when she rewinds time would look amazing. Yeah so I hope somewhere in the future a game dev or a publisher will remaster Life is Strange. (I mean come on, other games are getting a remake or remastered)

Also I want to ask, if you are in charge of remastering Life is Strange what other things would you add/change?

[ALL] Wrote my first fanfic in about 2 years after replaying Before the Storm

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 06:46 PM PDT

I used to write a lot of Life is Strange, but stopped when I kinda lost interest in the series. Recently, because of quarantine, I started my series replay with Before the Storm and it reignited my love for the series. So, I was inspired to start another fanfic. Here it is, I'd really appreciate any feedback and suggestions!

[S2 E5] Question About the Ending

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 09:22 PM PDT

I have a question regarding the Parting Ways ending. I read that in order to get the ending with Finn, you have to have had stayed up and had the talk about sexuality, agree to the heist, have the kiss, and if Finn is still alive, forgive him at the hospital. I have done all of these except stayed up and had the talk about sexuality. Is it still possible to end the game with Finn this way? I have also kept Daniel's morality high all throughout the game so far, I taught him not to steal, curse, and to use his powers for good.

[S1] Chasemarsh fanfic: Hungry Eyes, chapters 10-11 now available

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 08:59 PM PDT

Hello again everyone. If you have been reading Hungry Eyes or would like to give it a try, chapters 10 and 11 have been posted!

Brief summary: In the alternate universe created by Prime!Max in S1-E3, Alt!Victoria is left stunned and confused by her would-be girlfriend Maxine running off and hopping on the bus to Chloes house in the middle of her declaration of love! She is also harried at every turn by "Creepy" Kate Marsh, her apparent stalker, who seems to have strangely intense feelings about Vic.

New chapters summary: A certain fated rooftop confrontation has arrived! And maybe a bit of fluff?

As always, comments and criticisms are more than welcome! Some of you may not be aware, but Ao3 has stopped counting guest hits, so comments are greatly appreciated since they're the only way we can tell if a non-logged in user is reading currently.
