Who did you save at the end and why, personally I chose to sacrifice Arcadia bay because you come all this way and save Chloe all the time so why stop? Plus Chloe is one of my favourite characters 🙃

[ALL] Life is Strange 2 - Soundtrack APPRECIATION post

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 04:36 AM PDT

The soundtrack of both Life is Strange games, are famous and such a beautiful trademark of the franchise. Everyone who is a fan, knows how truly special and what a huge part of the story magic the chosen songs and original soundtrack are. I've seen it being mentioned countless times so I thought why not create a post, just for that, to take a moment and really appreciate it because it so deserves it.

Since I've finished Life is Strange 2 recently, all of it is still so fresh, therefore I'll be focusing here briefly on that. It's impossible and overwhelming to try to put in words, what Jonathan Morali - creator of composed music and the creators of the game, have managed to do with the soundtrack for this sequel once again. The emotions, feelings it evokes in one, how and where it elevates the story and the cinematic experience to me is simply out of this world. The soundtrack is an experience itself, almost even a character. It hurt me, it made me happy, it did things to me. It was lurking around, knowing what to do and when to do it. It is truly special, it is EVERYTHING. I feel almost somewhat lucky that I had the chance to familiarize myself with it and extend my playlist with so much stunning music. Up on Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz, I Found a Way by First Aid Kit, the main menu theme, Sky Lanterns scene's music called Fireflies, To Our Grandparents piece at the intro of ep. 2, Into the Woods, or Free Spirits at the end of ep 2, which hurts so much when you get Parting Ways are just a few of the many that stood out to me. In all honesty every bits and pieces of the soundtrack stood out to me, wish I could mention all of it, but I'm sure you'll get the point. Thanks for hearing me out and do let me know what were you're favorite songs and pieces of music of this second game, and what was your overall experience with it.

    [NO SPOILERS] Community Appreciation Post!

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 05:33 AM PDT

To all of you who create gorgeous works of fan art, and to those who share it. To the illustrators, the cosplayers, the fanfic writers, the video creators and editors. To the RPers and the shippers (and yes, even to the Warren stans! ^_~) To the players new and old who share their experiences and analyses. To those of you who show love and support to all of the above, and to anyone I might have left out.

This game and the characters in it are so special to me, and every single one of you have done your part to help keep it alive in our hearts and minds. I honestly can't find the words to convey how uplifting and rewarding it has been to be a part of the LiS family these past few months. Thank you all so, so much! <3

[NO SPOILERS] I've purchased the Life is strange graphic novels yesterday and they came today...

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 05:12 AM PDT

I've just began to read 'Dust' but I had to stop to ask a quick question. Do we, the fandom, consider these events as 'cannon'? (to those of you who picked Bae over Bay?) or do we just consider it, one possible possibility in a multiverse of infinite possibilities?

[NO SPOILERS] This is a VERY unpopular opinion, but I didn’t really like Max that much.

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 07:49 AM PDT

So I know what your all thinking, "what the hell is this idiot talking bout?!" but hear me out.

For me, Max was too quiet and she closed away, which makes her less memorable, unlike her partner in crime and TIME Chloe. She is just so much cooler and more memorable for me, and much more enjoyed playing as her in BtS than Max was in the first game.

Max didn't really have many memorable moments, as she's usually with someone else that is louder or cooler than her, so she was kind of "drowned out" for me.

But, my favourite character, Rachel Amber is just AMAZING. She is such a well written character, and she seems the most real to me. At the start of the game she has this super cool and adventurous side, but you learn she's just like the rest of us when she starts to open up to us in the middle of the game. And then at the end I found myself questioning if I even knew her at all, and when the game finished it left me with more questions than answers, and made me feel like Chloe just lied right to my face for the whole game.

So is this just me, or do other people not really like Max. Not because I don't like HER, she just never really stood out to me. Would love to hear your opinions in the comments, be nice! :)

[BtS] Does anyone else have an issue with the way GTlive judges Chloe throughout?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 12:43 AM PDT

The folks over at game theory played both Life is Strange and Before the Storm, and they keep judging Chloe and presenting her as a poorly written character because they are either not focusing on the story or are limited by their understanding of depression.

They even claimed Chloe was not depressed because she's partying with Rachel and stuff (which is weird, since these guys had a pretty good understanding of the subject when talking about Kate Marsh). They think that Chloe is scapegoating her problems on her dad and Max, when they didn't even go far enough to realise she was having problems before that, and these two were her only confidants. They even played through Chloe's breakdown at the junkyard and didn't connect it to her having frequent nightmares and hallucinations.

Now, I've always found their theories to be REALLY reductive and not considering elements added to enforce a theme, but they seemed mostly harmless. This stream makes it seem like they're berating someone (who isn't getting good psychological councelling btw) for being closed off, untrusting and increasingly reckless, which should invoke concern instead.

Am I reading too much into one livestream? Am I wrong at attacking them?

[BtS] I think BtS was written by very skilled people with not enough time/material

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 04:04 PM PDT

I look up a lot of narrative writing tropes and techniques, and love to observe them. I noticed that BtS had some absolutely brilliant tropes (the dream sequences, actually using subtlety to show that Chloe is most likely depressed, having the walls of pressure and disappointment close in on her, making Rachel the only gateway out of her reality, presenting everyone, even Damon, to be morally grey, making an even harder final choice that was well-developed, and I cannot understate when I say MANY more), but when playing the game, it doesn't feel like it has been put together well. A badly written game wouldn't make you feel so broken when Chloe smashes a camera that reminds her of Max. But a rushed story can make you bored going from one scene to another, and that is what I think is the shortcoming of this game.

    What do you think?
