[ALL] Please consider helping the people affected by the wildfires in Oregon

TL;DR - Please consider donating to the Red Cross Northwest Response Fund which is providing healthcare, temporary lodging and more to residents of Oregon and Washington who have been displaced by these monumental wildfires.

Life is Strange as an experience has had a great impact in various ways. It provides unique perspective on friendship and relationships which has affected the way many of us view these aspects of our own lives. But perhaps the greatest impact the Life is Strange games have had for me personally would be as an introduction to the beautiful state of Oregon and it's coast, mountains, forests, and small towns.

In the past several weeks, a rare wind event has turned a routine fire season into what the governor has described as the 'worst in a generation.' Dozens of fires are burning across hundreds of thousands of acres across the state. Many thousands of people have been evacuated, and reports indicate that so far hundreds or even 1,000+ homes have been destroyed, constituting several entire small towns not unlike our beloved Arcadia Bay. And that's not even mentioning the situation in Washington.

There is some good news in the past 24 hours. Governor Kate Brown has secured federal funding from FEMA to mobilize all available resources in fighting the largest and most destructive fires. So while the future will necessitate climate change and fire prevention as ways to reduce the ever increasing severity of these events, for now it is the people affected by them who need our help.

I'd like to ask those of you who have had their lives affected by these games to consider donating to the Red Cross Northwest Response Fund which is providing medical care, basic ammenities, temporary housing and more to displaced residents of Oregon and the equally beautiful state of Washington as we speak. The minimum donation is $10, which I opted for as a college student not receiving income this month. But as someone who is crazy enough about these games to get the embarassingly expensive vinyl soundtrack, it's really the least I could do. After all, Life is Strange would not have the same magic as it does without the beautiful setting of Oregon and the communities on which Arcadia Bay is based. And your donation will make a difference - in the time I've been writing this, an additional $20,000 has been raised because of people like us who give modestly and spread the word!

Thank you for your time, and I do hope you will consider what I have said. Posted with permission from u/ThreadOfFate
