[NO SPOILERS] It's my first time playing these games. I beat BtS before LiS1 and it makes me feel bad for Rachel.

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 01:34 PM PDT

I went in not knowing that Rachel was going to die so the whole time I was playing BtS, I was actually hoping Chloe and Rachel would run away, but they never did.

I think if I had played LiS1 first, it would've been like one of those situations where you know that some of the characters are going to die like the movie Troy, for example.

Playing in chronological order made LiS1 even better for me because I still held out hope that Rachel was alive or ran away to LA. But then... that fucking reveal in episode 4. Damn.

[NO SPOILERS]hey LIS reddit, what do you think about Twin mirror?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:48 AM PDT

Het there LIS reddit, I just saw on PS4 that twin mirror is on sale on the PSN, and since so far the Dontnod game are pretty good, I would like to know what you all think about it.

Does it worth the purchase or not, because strangely unlike LIS or other dontnod game I didn't hear much about this one.

    thanks!

    [S2 E4] immersion breaking unprofessionality?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 07:19 AM PDT

    edit: spelling

edit2: i understand now she didn't have to read his rights again since it wasn't the first time he was being interrogated by her, i assumed they read them everytime =) still stand with the other things i wrote

    --------

I'm playing Life Is Strange 2 for the first time, and I'm currently playing episode 4. I wanted to ask, did anyone else feel that the questioning at the beginning of episode 4 was kind of immersion breaking? I don't know the ins and outs of investigations but I've watched some questionings and that's not how any of them played out. Wasn't she supposed to read him his rights first, and wasn't it very weird for her to leave mid-investigation to answer her phone? was the questioning even being recorded, if they were in a hospital room where we couldn't see any cameras? I understand cops being unprofessional (like in episode 1) but a questioning for a highly wanted runaway suspect in the midst of a mysterious case with a dead cop and a missing child would probably be a lot more controlled, with an experienced investigator.

Besides that, i found it frustrating how the player is forced to reply to her questions. I get it from Sean's perspective, he might not know how it works and he thought he was going to get information on Daniel's whereabouts in exchange for talking, but it'd be a lot more interesting if the player was given the choice to remain silent, with matching consequences. Especially since our choices while replying where "blame friends without adding any nuance/details, or take the blame" the latter of which is insane to do in my Sean's position when he wasn't at fault for the ep3 heist and he's already in so much legal trouble/believes he's going to jail.

Not hating i really love this game so far apart from a few things i just!!! feel like a questioning is a big moment in the story and was wondering if other people had thoughts on this? would love to discuss:)

[ALL] Should I work on a Life Is Strange 2 fan-made project? Is the game itself "trauma porn"?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 01:24 PM PDT

Hello. I've never made a post on Reddit before but I would really like some input on this.

I've been cast in a LIS2 fanmade film as Cassidy and I'm not sure if I should go through with it or not. I try to be as respectful and supportive as possible to all communities so I'd appreciate any feedback I can get.

I grew up with the LIS franchise, so of course, I was super excited to see I had been cast as someone as cool as Cassidy, ( for my first ever role, too! ) but after reading a bit more about reactions and opinions to the second game, I'm a bit unsure if I should continue with my part in the project. As a white woman who is not as educated on xenophobic/racist matters as she'd like to be, I really would appreciate hearing some opinions from Hispanic/Latinx people. ( Forgive me if I phrase anything in this post wrong, please. I'm learning.)

I've heard some refer to the game as "Trauma porn" and I'm concerned about partaking in the film itself and risk offending or being a part of something that is damaging to the Latinx community. I'm not sure how much the director/writers are okay with me discussing, but I'm going to try and explain as much as I can- which unfortunately is going to be quite vague. I've only read the unfinished script for the film, and I haven't noticed anything concerning so far, but I'd like to reread it through a different lens- one that might pick up on inaccurate writing or racist undertones.

In the comments of Kurtis Connor's newest LIS2 video, I saw these comments,

As a latina this is 100% trauma porn. The game shows several times examples of xenofobia (going to the extent of having Daniel shot) but doesn't actually do anything against it,heck,i think they never even call it by its name. They never show how traumatizing and tiring it is to go trough everything that young latines inmigrants like Sean go trough, they never explain to Daniel why his dad was shot, they never explain to Daniel why HE was shot. I can't speak for all latines but I don't think ANY latinoamerican could fully enjoy this game, because is way too triggering and it obviously doesn't care about comforting us,or making us feel seen. The game is surelly about us,but is not made for us.

    and

Pretty racist that every version they go to Mexico they become gangsters

I haven't played every ending, so I'm not sure how accurate these comments are, but from these perspectives, I'm nervous about working on this. I guess some of the questions I'm trying to ask are: Do you think this is trauma porn? Would I be condemning xenophobia by taking this role? What exactly does make this game xenophobic? Is it bad writing, the concept, poor character development, etc.?Should I be asking any questions to the director and writers, who from what I know are all white?

I definitely have enjoyed my fair share of "offensive" humor (massive fan of FilthyFrank, iDubbz, etc.) in the past but I'd like to think I'm a more respectful person now, and definitely do not want to be any part of a fan-made project based on a game that hurts anyone or inaccurately describes the struggles Latinx's face.

I'm sure everyone here is probably a supporter of the game but I'd really appreciate some input. Thanks, guys.
