[NO SPOILERS] What're your theories for the mystery of LiS: TC?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 12:33 PM PDT

Obviously, since we're ~6 months away from release day, it's way too early to say anything beyond pure speculation. Still, I figured that this could be a good question to ponder! So, my two-fold question is:

    1. How do you think Gabe dies?
    2. Who do you think is responsible?

My personal theory is that Gabe's death is the result of an act of sabotage concerning his profession. Although it's not indicated, I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination to say that Gabe is employed in some sort of natural industry likely popular within the small town, such as logging, mining, or fishing.

As for who might be involved, I'm not sure. I've seen Ryan's dad's name thrown around, but I personally think that his character serves as a red herring, similar to how they treated David Madsen in LiS 1.

Curious to hear your thoughts! :)

[ALL] LIS1 vs LIS2 - Mysteries and Questions

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 05:02 AM PDT

I just wanted to share my piece on why I didn't engage much with the story of Life is Strange 2 as much as Life is Strange 1.

The problem for me was the lack of mystery. And the lack of anticipation from an audience-standpoint. Usually by the end of an episode or an act, I would want to have an intense curiosity as to what's going to happen next, asking a bunch of questions that I'd want to know, in order for me to have deep interest in continuing the story.

Life is Strange 2, while it had great moments, it didn't really leave many burning questions for me. Or any "Oh my God, what's gonna happen next!?!".

I'm glad that many of you enjoy the second one and even prefer it to the first - but I just wanted to show my view. So it's okay to disagree.

Below, I wrote down my initial questions I had at the ending of the first four episodes for both games, including Before the Storm's first two episodes. Even though the prequel was also disappointing for me personally, I even had more interest in those episodes than LIS2.

You can see the difference in how much (or how little) each game has given me to think about, gauging how immersed I was in the storytelling.

    Episode 1

    Life Is Strange 1

    • Is Rachel Dead?
    • Is someone at school responsible for Rachel gone missing?
    • What's wrong with Kate? Why is Kate so depressed?
    • Is everyone going to die or escape from the storm?
    • Are we going to be able to stop the storm?
    • What are all those binders at the end?
    • Why is Nathan so unhinged? What if he did something to Rachel?
    • Is Chloe going to tell anyone else about Max's power?
    • What's David going to do once he sees me with Chloe again?
    • Is the principal protecting secrets of Nathan?

    Life Is Strange 2

    • Okay, so we're going to Mexico and Daniel has powers. Now what?
    • Will the "I promise never to lie again" prompt bite us in the ass later? What will happen if I get caught lying?
    • Will we see Lyla again?

    Before The Storm

    • Who is that woman?! Why is she smiling?
    • How did Rachel even know about my encounter with the Mill bouncer and with Drew?
    • Wait, does Rachel have powers?!
    • Are we going to see how Frank and Rachel hook up?
    • What's going to happen with the forest fire?
    • Is Samantha going to be one of the first victims of Nathan?
    • Is Mr. Jefferson's arrival going to be presented?

    Episode 2

    Life Is Strange 1

    • Are people going to start treating Kate differently now? (provided she lives)
    • WHY IS KATE AMONG THE RED BINDERS in the end?
    • So how exactly are the events with Kate and Rachel connected?
    • What's David really up to behind-the scenes?
    • Why is Mr. Jefferson acting suspicious?
    • Is Victoria secretly involved in Rachel's disappearance?
    • Why does Frank have Rachel's bracelet?
    • What real consequences are going to happen to Max once we sign the document blaming one of the three people in the room?

    Life Is Strange 2

    • Are we now going to join Cassidy and gang, now that we're escaping on the train?
    • Is that the last we see of Chris? Are we just done with him and his Dad's story?
    • Are we finally going to see Sean and Daniel's Mom? What did she do that was so bad?!

    Before The Storm

    • If that's Rachel's real mother, then who is this in the house?!
    • How is Rachel's 'fake mom' okay with this?
    • So what does Rachel's real mother know? Is she secretly up to something?
    • How is Rachel going to treat her parents from this point?
    • Is this fire going to have any significance to Rachel and the Mom?
    • How is Frank going to play in all this?
    • Is something bad going to happen to Samantha?

    Episode 3

    Life is Strange 1

    • WHAT happened to Chloe?! How did she end up in that chair?
    • Are literally all the animals going to die out? Is nature going to collapse?
    • How is Nathan's disturbance with "Rachel in the Dark room" going to come into play?
    • Are we going to find out new info from Victoria and Nathan, now that we're in their circle?
    • Are we stuck in this alternate universe?
    • Are we going go get back to the previous timeline?
    • Is Frank going to find out we were in his R.V? How's he going to react?
    • Is Rachel going to be alive and well in this new timeline?
    • We can jump through photos now!? Is this going to be a new reoccurring mechanic?
    • Are we going to see Kate again? (if she lives)

    Life is Strange 2

    • DID EVERYONE IN THE ROOM JUST DIE?!
    • Where is Daniel now? Are we going to be playing as him moving forward?
    • Why is Jacob so suspicious about Daniel's secret? Is he going to rat us out?
    • Are we just not going to see Lyla again?

    Episode 4

    Life Is Strange 1

    • IT WAS MR. JEFFERSON ALL ALONG?! Who is he working with? Are him and Nathan partners?
    • Are we going to get to kill Mr. Jefferson?
    • Will we be able to bring Chloe back to life?
    • How are we going to escape? (now that we're drugged)
    • Are we able to get out and save everyone, including Max from the storm in time?
    • Does Mr. Jefferson know that Max has powers?
    • Did Mr. Jefferson kidnap Victoria too? (After she won the contest)
    • Will David and Joyce find out Chloe's missing and track Jefferson down?
    • Where's Nathan in the midst of all this?

    Life Is Strange 2

    • Okay, so now what? Is that the end? Where do we go from here? (Now that everyone's together, leaving the church)
    • Will Daniel forgive Karen for leaving and accept her?
    • Are we all going to Mexico together?

    Episode 5 proceeds.

So you could tell that I was a lot more interested in the events of Life is Strange 1. That's not to say that DONTNOD did a bad job with Life is Strange 2. I just feel like there should've been higher stakes with each episode, to keep us on our toes. And have an overall build-up of something.

It looks like Deck Nine is bringing things back to the roots with True colors by giving us a real mystery again, with a mechanic to figure out what people are thinking and feeling, allowing us to figure out what's really going on in the town. And I'm super excited for that!

Thank you for reading. Let me know your thoughts as well.

[ALL] do you like/ dislike Rachel Amber, why?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 03:38 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I wanted to come and say my two cents and get some ideas. It seems like looking through some posts on Reddit people either really love her or just really dislike her, so I guess she's a marmite character. I honestly don't get why Rachel gets the hate she does, so do you like/ love, dislike/ hate her and why?

[NO SPOILERS] Is Rachel Amber misunderstood by the LIS community?

I feel like Rachel Amber has a lot of different reviews in the fandom. From what I've seen she seems to be a marmite character. Do you think she's misunderstood?

[ALL] Do you think romantic interests should be balanced in Life is Strange franchise?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 04:20 PM PDT

In LIS1, Chloe clearly has more moments with Max than Warren's since the game focuses on their friendship and love. Max spent her last moments with Chloe and also being forgiven by her.

LIS2 seems gives more Cassidy moments with Sean compared to Finn. Plus, Sean had to agree with Finn's heist plan in order to romance with him, meanwhile agreeing with the heist plan will affect the morality.

In True Colors, Steph obviously had more advantage than Ryan due to being a side character of Before The Storm. There's also a DLC episode that Steph is the playable protagonist.

I find Telltale balance Clementine's love interest (Louis & Violet) better in the Walking Dead: the Final Season, where both characters have their own pros and cons, fair screentime when they're introduced. Thus, I find both of them are likeable.

Louis: Has a good sense of humor, good at socializing and optimistic, but carefree on his duties.

Violet: Depressed, edgy loner, rebellious but matured and better survivor.

I can only think the downside of balancing the romantic options, it could result to ship wars. People often argue/debate who's better in TWD community, meanwhile LIS community doesn't happen a lot.
