[S1 E2] After three years decided to play Life is Strange 1 again and discovered something

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 06:24 AM PDT

In the end of episode 2, Max try to save Kate Marsh's life, and for a long time I didn't remembered that you could really succeed at it, in my mind no matter what were your actions that thing was destined to happen.

Replaying it and finally realising that I was wrong was such a pleasant surprise. I had a friend that tried to commit suicide, there was too much in her life going on, me and her friends joined to make an effort in showing her that we were there, but it really felt that nothing could make her feel better and change her mind about life.

Now she is really better, even has a daughter that she loves and she is grateful to us for standing by her side no matter the rumors (way similar to Kate).

[NO SPOILERS] LiS 2 - Puerto Lobos meaning

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 03:49 AM PDT

Now after some time spent on learning spanish I learnt that in Spanish "Puerto" means Port and "Lobos" means "Wolves". When in reality it should be La Puerto de Lobos to have a full meaning "Port of Wolves" it is still very interesting and it gives me so much vibes and encourages me to learn this language more.

[NO SPOILERS] Which of the series has your favorite soundtrack?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 08:40 PM PDT

The LiS series has a great choice in music, both original and non original. I really think it adds to the experience, so many scenes would not be anywhere NEAR as impactful if it wasn't for the score behind it.

Initially I would have said season 1 had the best no brainer but I've been listening to Before The Storm non stop and it gets me so emo. Daughter nailed the character of Chloe with their music.

So, not a complex or probably uncommon discussion but I just wanted to hear which of the three is your personal favorite and your favorite tracks :-)

[NO SPOILERS] Can we get more flairs, specifically for Part 2?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:27 PM PDT

There are way too many flairs for LiS 1 (understandable, it's been there for longer and is more popular) and barely any for LiS 2. Most of the flairs are unneccessary ships or cringy references, and Part 2 has only pretty obvious quotes. Idk man at least enable Editable Flairs so we can make some ourselves, I would really like referencing part 2 soundtrack

[S1] Why I don't like Life is Strange

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:54 PM PDT

This is just my opinion, I don't doubt that many people like this game for valid reasons. If you disagree with me please, by all means, tell me why you like the game and I will hear you out. I know this post will probably get downvoted to hell but eh, I want to get this out anyway it's worth loosing some karma

My main problem with the game is that it lies about itself, it claims that all your choices will have an impact on the story. This is just strait up false, I have played through the game twice (yes I have played this game twice despite the fact I hated it long story don't ask) and not at one point is there a choice that has a meaningful impact, most choices just imply a consequence in the future but don't show it. At most a choice will just change a couple lines of dialogue with a character. The most important (and final) choice and the second most important choice really highlight my issues.

Saving Kate: I really hated this bit of the game, Max just suddenly looses her powers because 'Oh no the plot requires it! Deus ex machina!' and then you have to remember really insignificant details about a random background character. The scene boils down to 'Remember my favorite bible verse or I'll kill myself!'. Even when the scene ends and you get one of the two outcomes, nothing really changes, just a few little changes in dialogue and some magazines.

Killing Chole or Destroying Arcadia Bay: This choice is stupid. I think of this choice as 'Do you kill the bitch or kill an entire town full of people?'. This could be because I just didn't like Chloe as a character, hell I was glad that I finally got to see her dead. The choice is so lopsided, kill either one person (and a terrible person at that who gets angry at you if you don't steal charity money) or kill an entire town (at least 1,000 people!) who have done nothing wrong. You aren't even killing Chole! You are just letting her natural fate occur.

The characters/writing: I found the writing to just be simply shit. It was written as if a bunch of middle age French dudes tried to talk like teenage girls, OH WAIT, IT WAS. Chloe was just so unpleasant in my opinion, I have no idea why everyone liked her so much. I can't criticize Max's personality though because she didn't have one. She may have just been a wooden plank with a face drawn on it, hell I would have enjoyed that more! If you don't see what I mean I present the word 'hella'

Gameplay: I love telltale and David Cage games which have very similar styles to life is strange. Walk from a to b, activate cut scene, talk, make decision, repeat. The difference between life is strange and The walking dead is that The walking dead has gameplay, even if it is just button mashing or QuickTime events, it's something. Life is Strange is just badly written cutscene to walking to badly written cutscene over and over again. Since I brought up The Walking dead and Detroit become Human/Heavy Rain, I would like to point out that they all actually had consequences for your actions and decent character writing (so it is possible!)

That is the end of this long post. If you read all of it thank you! I guess it must be weird to have a post on a sub for a game talking about how it is bad. Sorry if I upset anyone I just wanted to get this out of my system. If anyone has any counter points I would love to hear them. Have a great day
