[ALL] Are you still as excited for the future of LIS as you once were? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 01:35 PM PST The hype is on it's last legs for me. I don't know what happened, but the same excitement I had during the height of LiS1 and even the first couple episodes of Before the Storm has dissipated. Looking at the state of the subreddit, it looks very much the same way to me also. I come in from time to time over the years for any news or to join in on any topics, but gone are all the discussions, theories, and debates over endings and character choices. LiS2 didn't really contribute to that, it was a fine game but there was nothing there to really deliberate over once it was finished. Now it's pretty much just all fan art (which is fine, and shout out to all the artists out there) or people saying they played for the first time and don't know what to do now that the game is over, but I miss all that other stuff too. Posted: 28 Dec 2020 12:16 AM PST She's always loved how I've always dorked out about Life is Strange and calls it my "one soft spot." So after about a year of finally convincing her to get an Xbox and the games being on sale I bought them for her so she could understand my love for them. Before she was able to play them and telling her to do them in order to fall in love with the original then the expanded backstory that's when my plan to destroy her on the inside came together. I thought about how crazy the story was in the original and the nice and sweet backstory, so what would happen if one were to go through it without the mystery? You have the emotional attachments, that's what. She's fallen in love with Chloe and Amber and now that she's started the first one she was immediately scared by all the posters of Amber missing and almost started freaking out about the mention of the tattoo. Then when she saw them unite she was even more excited. I should mention she is also trying not to reverse time to have a solid playthrough of the actions meaning something but I made her redo the bedroom scene where Step Douche comes in and slaps Chloe. She ended up having to pause the game after that since she began tearing up and shaking and will hop back on again tomorrow. I'm just waiting until she finds out what really happened to Rachel, "I guess she found out who her mother was?" Then the next huge reaction I can't wait for is what happens to Chloe before the ending. I have wondered what it would be like to to play the games in that order and she's the test subject. I'm loving the damage the perfectly crafted story telling is in these games. [link] [comments]

[S1] After finishing LiS, this is my take on some of the more divisive topics. Posted: 28 Dec 2020 07:03 AM PST As people know, LiS has been criticized for being pretty leftist in how topics are handles and in how cultures are presented. This originally drove me away from the game but after playing it, and liking it, I'd like to express if these accusations were true in my eyes. I am pretty conservative politically and some would call me a "Trump supporter" so when I originally tried to ask fans about the game their opinions I was somewhat shooed away from something I had interest in because of my stance on things. Now, 4 years later I decided to pick up the game and see it through the end and found myself to really enjoy the atmosphere and characters of Arcadia Bay. Now, as I expected there were some moments that made me cringe such as the way Chloe handles the gun and the part where she said that "Only women should have guns" especially made me feel uncomfortable. Another thing I noticed was the general stereotyping of white men, often accompanied by the confederate flag (such as in David's journal entry). This got better with time and eventually some of the 2D stereotypical characters were given some heart near the end (David's rescue of Max was definitely appreciated) but I left thinking that the writers were a bit uneducated on some of the topics they touched on. A good explanation for things like Chloe's view on guns would be that the game is realistically displaying what an angsty teen would think and say but it still feels a bit half assed. Overall, I did experience some of the cringey moments that felt uninformed as I was warned about but I strongly disagree that it is apparent or as much of a dealbreaker as people make it out to be. I finished the game really feeling moved and would love a continuation of Chloe and Max's story. [link] [comments]
