    [S1] Revisiting the Stella Connection

    Hello all.

    This is a follow-up to my last thread questioning just who was Mark Jefferson talking to near the end of season 2. One bullet point in my thread drew more attention than others - the idea of Stella perhaps being more than she seems.

    For the uninitiated - Stella being an accomplice to Jefferson was a very common theory in the interrim between Episodes 4 and 5 (along with less supported ideas, like Rachel still being alive and the body being a fake, Warren being in on it, Madsen being in on it, the supernatural plot and Samuel the Janitor). As a matter of fact there was much speculation on whether or not Jefferson had some collaborators and whether or not he knew about Max's powers or the Storm - much of this speculation hinged on the Prescott plot going somewhere (it didn't.)

    But that could all be in other threads. As a matter of fact, I encourage it - looking at potentially aborted plot arcs or conspiracies is something I'd love to see more of. Who's the Homeless Woman? What's eating Samuel? Did Warren have a bigger role originally?

    But in this thread we are going to re-examine the evidence and reassess Stella Hill, the hard studying bespectacled side character, five years after the storm. So put on your tinfoil caps and let's take a look at the circumstantial evidence.

    Part 1, Stella and Frank

    At the first level of the metaphorical Life is Strange Iceberg, we have the knowledge that Stella is actually Daschund in Frank's codified inventory / record of sales book. Daschund purchases quite a lot from Frank, as a matter of fact - hundreds of dollars. Her purchases are quite interesting. Stella favors study drugs, weed, and anti-anxiety / anti-adhd drugs. We can look at her individual purchases now.

    *9/30 - An ounce of mid at $340 dollars (damn Frank, upcharging much?)

    *10/01 - Hydromorphine, 24 mg, $90 (Hydromorphone tends to come in 2-8 mg tablets for reference)

    *10/03 - (ADHD - 5 Pills. Nonspecific but most likely adderall, another study drug)

    *10/05 - Benzos, Speed

    *10/07 - "Weird Weed" (Likely a specific strain of Mariujanna) $260

    Now we can rule out most of these as unimportant. The main one we should worry about is the purchase on 10/01. Hydromorphone. We'll come back to this one in a bit. Either way, this hopefully makes it clear that there's a pattern and that Stella is certainly spending a lot of money for someone Max says comes from a poorer background.

    Part 2, Nathan's drugs

    Nathan is interesting if only because a big old spotlight is put on him in the final game. In the final game we see Nathan buys a lot of party drugs. Molly, speed, coke, mary jane, acid, and old GhB. His GHB purchase comes at 11 PM on 10/4, the night Kate was taken to the dark room. We are directed at this point to believe that Nathan slipped her GhB (a popular date rape drug) and then promised to take her to the hospital - but in actuality, absconded her to the dark room. Now here's the argument that this did not happen.

    Nathan was at the Prescott Barn at 10:58 PM, where he was presumably dropping Kate off

    David in his insane paranoia tracked Nathan as we all know. Here is his sheet:

    Now with this in mind, Frank's black book marks him as meeting Nathan to sell him GhB "in the boonies" at 11 PM.

    So at this point we have a consistency on our hands OR a new piece of evidence that suggests that Nathan didn't actually buy the GhB before the party. In addition, Nathan does not drive anywhere for the rest of the night meaning that he didn't drive out here, buy the drugs, and return to the party. This is an impossibility. Nathan's vehicle is put here until the next day, 10/5, 4 AM. Presumably when he is returning to Blackwell with Kate.

    Part 3, the case for Stella

    Let's take this information and address the idea that it was actually Stella that drugged Kate and why it actually makes sense. We know that Kate was not a last minute choice on Jefferson's part. Jefferson plans his victims in advance. Innocent women that he can photograph at the moment they are broken. Wouldn't it make sense for him to signal ahead of time he wanted to drug Kate? The Hydromorphone purchase was only 3 days before the party. Three days.

    Let's look at proximity - Kate did not like Nathan. Did not like the Vortex Club. In Kate's own words, it was "not her scene" and in Taylor's, Kate was strictly abstinent and preached against sex.

    Now with that in mind we know Kate had three people she considered true, close friends. Max, Alyssa, Stella.

    What sounds more likely: Nathan bringing a glass of wine to Kate for her to drink or Stella, a long time friend and trusted confidant? Now Stella has quite a bit of Hydromorphone. In low dosages it's used to treat anxiety, as a pain killer, to treat insomnia. It encourages longer periods of sedation and light sleep. In a higher dosage and mixed with alcohol...it becomes much more potent. Which brings us to...

    Part 4, Kate's Testimony

    >Kate: I remember...I remember getting sick and dizzy...

    >Max: Go on...

    >Kate: Then Nathan Prescott said he would take me to the hospital...

    So the order of events:

    Kate is dosed, Kate kisses guys and laughs and "plays the field" as Nathan puts it, Kate feels sick and dizzy. Her next phrase is interesting.

    >Kate: Sick enough to need a doctor. I thought I was dying, Max.

    While GhB can cause illness like nausea and vomitting, it's not typically something someone will be cognizant of. Hydromorphone just so happens to have similar effects, especially when mixed with alcohol. The fact she remembers this speaks more to hydromorphone.

    Nathan promises to take her to the hospital but they end up elsewhere. The "boonies". Prescott's shed. The dark room. It's here where Kate's memories of the night abruptly end (she says she felt a sharp sting in the neck, clearly one of Jefferson's hip cool drugs) and then she wakes up dumped in front of the dorm (lines up with Nathan leaving the barn at 4 AM).

    Now we've created enough clues to make it clear there is a chance that it was Stella. But you're now thinking:

    What is the link between Stella and Jefferson?

    Part 5, What is the link between Stella ans Jefferson?

    Just what is the link betwee-

    So Stella doesn't have much dialogue at all in the final game. She gets two speaking appearances - ep 1 and 2...and they both involve Mark Jefferson.

    In Episode 1 much of the dialogue in the scene after the Principal revolves around some basic setting building. Just about everyone is talking specifically about Rachel and her disappearance. Stella is absolutely certain she slept with Jefferson but is quick to add that she "has a good source". Which is an odd thing to add. Kinda like asking for a link to porn for "your friend."

    But she is also quick to dish out her admiration of Jefferson. She is obviously not alone as Max also gushes over him at first, but Stella goes into depth on enjoying his style. Is it maybe also just coincidental that the first place you talk to her is in front of one of Jefferson's characteristic anguished girl pictures? Stella's next appearance is in Episode 3, where she appears in an alternate universe with Warren Brooke in tatters over being cucked in two timelines and she has some cut dialogue where her and Warren call Max "a fucking weirdo." I also want to add that earlier in episode 3, Stella's room slate reads "I'm sorry Kate" in shaky handwriting. Maybe just the general sentiment...or maybe a small admission of guilt?

    Her next speaking role is in ep 4, where she is guarding the entrance to the vortex club. This is only important because she tells Max that "Jefferson got her the job." Not Victoria. Not some other Vortex club flunky. Jefferson. Who, aside from his connection with Nathan, has no connection to the Vortex Club parties. Why would Jefferson get someone like Stella a job as a bouncer at a party? And it's also important to note that Max must speak to Stella to advance the plot. There's no walking around her. Max simply cannot enter the party without speaking to Stella, meaning, to me, this information might be of importance. Why else would the devs want you to hear it? Especially when we know now that Jefferson is preparing to ambush you at the junkyard.

    Could Stella be a lookout for Jefferson?

    Conclusion

    This is not a conclusive matter in the slightest. But there are enough dots there that may or may not be worth connecting. Could Stella have been a knowing accomplice to Jefferson? Another acolyte for him to teach photography to? Maybe a drug mule, helping him get those "hip cool drugs"? Is this content on the cutting room floor? Or is this all coincidental? Or is this all just the ravings of a man with too much time on his hand?

    You decide.

    Idk if i should buy Life is Strange 2, i played the first one and loved it, loved the characters, plot, and the overall feeling you get when you're playing, it feel unique.

    Now.... i was gonna buy LIS 2 the other day but a friend of mine told me that the game is NOT like the first one, he said they went too political and most gravely, they try to make you take a position, like either you think like this or you are one of the bad guys, basically making you feel lik s%#@ unless you agree with them.

    So basically..... will life is strange 2 click for someone who doesn't take a stand when it comes to choosing a side in politics but rather treats politicians like, well, politicians and not friends... ?
