[NO SPOILERS] Do I need to play the other Life Is Strange games before True Colors?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 10:41 AM PDT

I haven't played a Life Is Strange game before and was wanting to get True Colors. Is True Colors connected to the other games at all?

[ALL] Looking For Alaska is basically Life is Strange except Max/Chloe is a guy and there’s no supernatural ability or storm etc

Now as I write this, I've actually just literally begun into a minute of it and I immediately thought of LiS (not just because the plot sounded familiar) but because the first song that instantly plays is Crosses by José González which is the song that plays in EP2 when Max rides the bus to the Two Whales Diner (neat coincidence no?).

For anyone who's curious, Looking for Alaska is an 8-episode 1 hr long Hulu miniseries that was adapted from the YA fiction Looking for Alaska by John Green (same author who wrote The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns). As far as I know from the backgrounds, Alaska Young is a troubled wild 'perfect' enigmatic girl that the MC, Miles/Pudge falls in love with. The themes of the story are grief, empathy, mystery, acceptance and growth, just like Life is Strange. Next part isn't really a spoiler because the premise of the story is literally it so you'd literally know from the beginning (esp in the show it starts with it) or even if you just Google the title it's literally the first thing that pops up. But I'll tag it anyways in case you still wanna be surprised.

The story then delves into her friends making sense of her tragic death— so kinda like LiS, we have a Rachel and the people she left behind trying to cope and figure out how and why she died etc.

I haven't the read the book yet because I'd rather see the show first, but apparently the events surrounding Alaska is also ambiguous, just like Rachel (I read some of the articles and reviews and most of them aren't on the same page). I've basically been going around looking for similar stories with similar characters to LiS so here's another one for anyone who's finished the franchise and is craving for more LiS-esque coming of age tragedies :D

EDIT: Ok Alaska is a healthy balance between Rachel and Chloe but she's also very poetic and volatile lmfao

EDIT2: It's kinda amazing how I'm dreading finishing this show now because the audience actually knows what's going to happen. Makes me wonder if LiS had this format so we all also knew who Rachel was leading up to her death and then the aftermath of it as well, would it be 10x more tragic because we know how it ends and are just anxiously waiting for Chloe to discover the truth...? Regardless, this show's format is pretty effective.

[All] I'm writing this as I'm still crying so bear with me on this one. Before The Storm. Farewell. My thoughts.

    I can't fucking believe this

That was so fucking horrible, It was all happy and giddy, I had a lump in my throat the entire episode because I was sad, but that was because Max and Chloe were separating, I didn't realize that it was the day William died until I saw the photo on the counter, and Chloe said something about her parents being home soon, that's when it hit me hard and I realized what day it was. I can't believe this, I feel so bad for Chloe. So the day Max and Chloe were separated is the day her dad died, and that means if you picked sacrifice Chloe in LIS you left her on the day her dad died, and let her die while she was thinking that you abandoned her and didn't care about her. That is fucking horrible. I can't believe this shit, im so glad I sacrificed Arcadia. This is making me cry worse than (TWDG Spoiler) When Clementine "died" in TWDG

This fucking sucks so bad, it's 8pm on a Tuesday and im in bed fucking crying.

    RIP William

    Peace <3

[No spoilers] Anyone else disappointed that Dontnod didn’t invest in graphics?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2021 07:07 PM PDT

With the release of next gen consoles, its a perfect opportunity for the studio to step up their game in the graphics department. Don't get tmr wrong, the games look good, but it's due to its art style rather than its technicalities.

Games like Detroit Become Human, Until Dawn, and the Dark Pictures games all look amazing with great mocap as well. I think it really contributes a lot, what do y'all think?

[NO SPOILERS] How long will Life Is Strange: True Colors be?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2021 07:08 AM PDT

I've done my best to make a prediction, regarding how long Life is Strange: True Colors will be, given a lack of official news regarding (or at least, my inability to find said news).

I've found from reading about people's experiences, watching playthroughs, and my own experience, that an episode from previous games can be finished in around 2-3 hours, and completed in roughly 4. Feel free to argue with me on that though, I'm not certain those figures are entirely accurate myself.

If each chapter is roughly 3 hours then that's 15 hours of playtime. Assuming Wavelengths will be the same length as the other chapters, that's 18.

If the player takes their time, looks at everything, talks to everyone, exhausting all possible dialogue, that should end up being 20-ish hours, 24-ish with DLC.

LMK if you think i'm wrong (i think i might be wrong too) and uh yeah
