[S1] [BtS] More games/shows/movies that are like the first Life is Strange ???

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 12:33 PM PST

I really loved the vibe the first Life is Strange and Before the Storm has, it really makes you feel immersed in these teen lives and it doesn't feel cheesy it feels real and I love it. Before the Storm is a little more angsty as we focus on Chloe especially with the soundtrack as well.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows any other games or even tv shows/movies that have the same artistic & angsty teen life vibe,, please let me know !!! :)

"In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state.[1]", From Wikipedia.

What exactly made most of us stay with these episodes in our minds? Please, share your perspective as well!

-> Is it about the history?

-> Did game designers worked with psychologists to understand how to leave a permanent mark?

-> Is it about our love and passion or our lack of it that this game meant so much for us?

I feel that the game developers got to a point to use the butterfly effect to convey that the Max's power is useless, you can't change the way it's going to be in real life by altering time (if it sounds offensive, sorry if I got at this point). The stories comes as if whenever you try or not to alter the history, there is always a path that everyone will pass for it.

-> And the order of the history is supposed to be that way, since we are talking about the butterfly effect (small changes do big differences).

"What if I played the game from the last episode to the first, it would be different... right?"

In my perspective it unfortunately no, the game was designed to be that way. As I said above, there is a linear system which you can't change.

    So.

What is your opinion/perspective about this awesome way to make games that leave a mark on your mind? And how could you improve this system?

    [BtS EB] The Farewelll

Can I just say, the Farewell episode hit me right were it hurts. I have only just finished it, and the ending hit me almost as hard as the original game endings.

I didn't realise that the game took place on the day William died, it took me until Chloe said "They should be home by now" for it to click. I knew that the episode was going to have a heart wrenching ending, but the final tape was the finishing blow. In my opinion, this was the best episode out of all the games. Apart from ether beginning of episode 2, the ending was the best/most emotional episode of the game.

This fucking game knows where to hit to cause this.
