[S2] I could not complete Life Is Strange 2. I could not like the brothers at all. (Stopped in the middle of episode 4)

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 08:14 AM PDT

I loved Life is Strange. It's not a reflection of a real teenager (obviously), but it had a lot of great storytelling beats and did delivered it well.

I don't feel the same as Life is Strange 2. There's a lot of clumsy decisions. And many decisions really make me like the two brothers less. And I'm not talking about the petty crime like shoplifting or hotwiring cars. I'm talking about how the writers structured the situation for our two characters, and then blow things off like it's no big deal.

    Two examples - (Obviously spoilers):

    • There's a scene where Sean/Grandma/Grandpa says to stay low. But ah screw it let's go buy some Christmas trees! All of your decisions to play it safe doesn't matter. Because the story had to shoehorn you to meet with the drifter kids. Imagine if they wrote a scenario where you DIDN'T GO, and met the drifter kids loitering in the alleyway.
    • Another scene of going to rob the Weed Farm guy. No matter what you choose, the next act literally says that Weed Farm Guy is the bad guy. The Weed Farm had no reason to give a 10 year old a job, but did it out of respect for Finn. If you want to make Weed Farm guy the bad guy, give a actual reason! Like, say that he's the one who kidnapped all those kids or something.

The situations aren't bad. Max and Chloe had an awareness about them. But very rarely did I side with the brothers interpretations of events. I do wonder if with more polished, they could have smoothed it out a lot of the scenarios.

    ----

I shared this with my friend, and their phrasing was, "Stranger Things really sets the bar on how I expect young people to act. Any of those kids is infinitely more intelligent and likeable than these two."

[No spoilers] I hope life is strange 3 keeps the high school and slice of life setting

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 12:03 AM PDT

With rumors that deck nine is developing life is strange 3 I hope they return to the high school/slice of life setting that liS and BtS was. I kinda want more games with high school characters mixed with slice of life. I don't mind the story if it's a mystery or not but that's what I want. I enjoyed life is strange 2 but I didn't enjoy it nowhere near as the first game

[NO SPOILERS] Any story games out there that feel similar to Life Is Strange???

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 05:42 PM PDT

I've played every single Life Is Strange related game and I've been looking for another story game to play recently..

I've asked people for some good suggestions but I feel like only LIS fans understand the type of game I'm looking for, which is why I'm asking this subreddit.

I want something that'll get me emotionally invested like LIS did.. I've already played The Walking Dead and although I love LIS way more than TWD, I'm willing to play anything similar to either one if there's anything out there.
